Omaha NCAA March Madness

First and second round games to be held at the Qwest Center Thursday and Saturday. Teams announced today are Kansas, Portland State, UNLV, Kent State, Southern Cal, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Cal State-Fullerton.

I'm off to PHX Saturday morning but if anyone is coming for these games we can meet up for lunch or dinner on Friday. Anybody up for a nice cut of midwest beef at one of Omaha's famous chop houses?

I can't help with tix as event is technically sold out except for the school allotments. I'm still waiting to hear from UNLV to see if my request is honored.

I spent my evening looking for fares (paid and award) to OMA and am coming up empty, ditto for MCI

the problem with March Madness unlike the bowl system is that you don't know where you are going and when you find out its < 7 days notice, it just gets magnified when you go to a small market airport like OMA which is traditionally expensive to begin with

I'll keep searching but my hopes are not that good

Try Lincoln LNK (1 hour drive), Wichita (3 hour drive), Grand Island GRI (2 hour drive), EAR Kearney (3 hour drive), Topeka (2 1/2 hour drive), Sioux City (1 1/2 drive I think), Des Moines (2 hour drive).

You could fly AA to DEN and then buy a Great Lakes tix to one of the scenic cities in western/central NE and drive to OMA.
