this has been the most confusing thread for a do of any type that I've ever seen

Whatever interest I had in this was lost when I couldn't follow all the threads then where and when it was going to be

this is the textbook case in how not to do one

I would be interested in getting together with other Flyertalkers for this, but there needs to be at least a TIME AND PLACE TO MEET! Informal is fine, loose agenda is fine, but we gotta set a time to meet.

I'd be willing to keep a list of attendees in a post updated and make this go if you want ifette.

As an example (I don't have authority to set this, cause I am not the OP):
How about Dec. 8; 10 AM at the Dulles facility, 2:00 PM at the downtown museum? 5:30 PM Drinks dinner at a downtown DC location yet to be determined - suggestions?

Attendence list -
Me:
Dulles - TBD.
DT Air & Space - yes
Dinner & Drinks - yes

However, I am not going to plan on this until I know other Flyertalkers are definitely coming and I've got a better method to meet up than hanging around at the Air & Space museum holding up a Flyertalkers meet here sign for a couple of hours hoping somebody will show up.

How about sticking with what was originally posted by the OP:

In the thread about the 747 having been installed on the Air & Space museum in DC (the one on the mall, i.e. close to DCA, NOT Udvar-Hazy which is out by IAD.), the idea of a get-together was brought up. It sounded like a good idea, and Dec 7-9 sounded like a good weekend.
.
.
.

Currently planning on meeting up at air & space afternoonish on Sat 12/8.
I think the confusion has come about because of others making alternate suggestions to go to the center at Dulles instead.

That said, I will be out of the country that weekend so can't make it.

I appreciate the effort to make this happen. Personally I don't think I need much structure for these things, but meeting "afternoonish" somewhere around the Air and Space museum in DC is not going to cut if for me.

OK - MzCE sez we'll give this one another look-see for 12/08-9.

So far, I've booked for us a (cancellable) room at the C Street HI -- which might make for an apres-musee gathering spot. $105+ with AAA.

Search brought up an old reference by VJ to an available bus route (5a - $3) between IAD and L'Enfant Plaza.

Anybody aware of any issues with the above ?? Fixin to pull the trigger again...
/.

EDIT: BANG-BANG. arr NW228 -DCA 11:46am. requal + 286EQM

I'd previously planned to take the tube from DCA, but scheduals from DTW are turning uncooperative. :argh:

Metrorail works great from DCA to get you downtown.

See also:

http://www.washfly.com/faqs.htm

WF also has a nonstop bus that gets you to a metrorail station from iad (in addition to Metro's bus 5A).

If you fly into BWI, you can take the B30 express bus to get you to a Wash. metro station as well (takes only about 30 minutes). Does not run for early morning flights on Sat. or Sun., however.

The 5A Metrobus runs from IAD to the L'Enfant Plaza Metrorail station, which is about a block and a half from the C Street SW Holiday Inn. The fare is $3.00 each way.

2 PM Air and Space Museum - add NW scoop + guest to the list. I'm flying in just for the DO (and to have fun with friends that weekend as well)

Meeting with thezipper prior to the exhibit.

Possible for NASM

I'm 5000 miles away, so I won't just randomly show up - I'll be able to say definite or definitely not ahead of time. But at this point, I'm not sure yet.
