East coast DO - IAD?

In light of the apparent success of DO/Tour of UA SFO facility, I'd like to propose that the next one take place somewhere on the east coast, say at IAD. This will:

1) Facilitate east coast flyers getting to the event.

2) Allow us to engage UA management at the precise location where improvements can be made. Instead of touring the maintenance facility, the group can walk the concourses and observe boarding procedure at various gates, as well as tour the various RCCs.

CO's DO just concluded and once again attendees seem to be very pleased. So much so, that NW attendees are now organizing to charter a 747. The difficulty so far is getting enough people to sign up.

If we UA MP folks are to do such a thing, I propose that we stick to smaller planes, preferably something that exemplifies UA. Maybe a Ted A320 or non-ExPlus CRJ-200.

If this seems to be a joke, it is in a way, but the east coast locale proposal is no joke. With the discount 15K saver awards and the large # of MPers on east coast, I imagine we can get a significant crowd.

As a relatively new FTer located in Philadelphia (who was in CA during the SF-DO but couldn't make it up), I'd be very interested in a IAD/WAS DO. How long as it been since the last east coast DO?

Do's are not limited to UA flyers and as such this thread will be moved to CommunityBuzz! where it belongs.

I would definitely be interested in an IAD Do, although something tells me an RCC Do or "observing boarding procedure Do" wont work very well and wont be on UA's agenda of things to do. Still would be very interested.

Welcome to PHL from another California/SFO refugee ^^

They're rather far and few between. Most "doos" are informal "hey, I'm in town, anyone up for dinner?" sort of meetings. We just had a little informal thing at Tony Luke's here in Phila.

Large "lets get a lot of people and plan a few months ahead" ones are a little harder - and more rare.

As for the post at hand, I'm 130 miles away so i'd definitely be in for this...

The Washington-Baltimore area FT group is a closely-knit group. I'm certain you will have a huge turnout for any special event located in this area.

Thanks, civicmon! Enjoying my time on the east coast immensely, so far. I'll keep an eye out for the smaller DOs, but the idea of attending a larger gathering has a lot of appeal. Here's hoping we can get the ball rolling on this one.

The last DC area Do we had was called "The Freddies". If I recall, we had a fairly good turnout.
