Hi everyone,
OK. So, I am a relative newbie to the list and definitely for the secret santa.
Can I ask, what kinds of gifts have you given/received in the past?
Was it worth participating?
Anyone have any particularly cool or not-so-cool stories to share about participating?

Once you sign-up and receive the name of your 'giftee', you can search his/her posts to get an idea of what airline they fly, type of travel (some are weekly business travelers, others twice a year leisure), possibly even a posted 'favorite vacation spot' or 'dream' destination, etc. that might give you additional ideas to find the perfect gift.

Take a look at the prior year SS threads (links are in the first post of this thread). As gifts are received, people usually report on what is received / appreciated / etc, so look toward the end of the threads.

So, I just took some time and have updated the list... if you are not on it now, please resend your info. I know I have at least four people I sent messages to because you did not follow the directions... please get back to me if you want to participate.

I was about to send my PM to wharvey......but can someone give ideas of what type of gifts have been sent in the past. Or, does it run the whole gamut?

It runs the whole gamut. I've received SPG50's and other hotel certificates. I've had secret santas who really hit it out of the ballpark and gave me my best Christmas presents those years, from anyone, including my family (and family is supposed to know what you like). Those have humored my taste for history and good beer, or who really paid attention to my hints and my posts on other threads.

If you read the other year Santa threads, you will see that many people have posted what they received....
I agree with Kipper... they run the spectrum.... Some have received gifts they believe came off the clearance table
to major gifts... United systemwide upgrade (I gave that one year) to other major gifts.
One of my best gifts actually came from an FT who did not participate in Secret Santa... but wanted to recognize Santa for his coordination of the extravaganza. I think fondly of that FTer every time I look at the gift.

I have been quite happy with the gifts I've received. I think I have also sent pretty good gifts (and I have even played 'replacement Santa' for people that found themselves gift-less).
I haven't identified myself as Santa, nor did I always know who my Santas were. I would just encourage people to post on the thread when they receive their gift -- it's a nice way to say thank you and it's fun to see what everybody gets.

Okay, PMed OP so I am in. Just awaiting confirmation and to find out who the giftee will be. Oh the anticipation! Feel like a kid the night before Christmas.
This was fun last year, thanks again to wharvey!
