Is there a FT network on Facebook?
I'm just curious. If there isn't: 1) how would you guys feel about creating one? 2) what are the procedures for creating a new network?
Personally, I think it would be useful. However, I can forsee several potential problems. Namely: 1) it would be harder to hide behind our handles; 2) we'd probably get hundreds of irrelevant --to most-- emails about FT events that don't mesh with our schedules.

There already is one. Check out the group here.

BTW, the annonymity thing isn't a huge deal for me, but it is a cool feature of FT that I'd like to preserve as much as is practical.

There is a topic on the discussion board where those who are comfortable can post their FlyerTalk handle so people can put a name to the face, if you will.
Also, please note that by joining the Facebook group, you are consenting to being sent messages by the administrator of the Facebook group (me). If you do not wish to receive any Facebook messages related to the FlyerTalk group, please do not join.

What a waste of time.
I get plenty of e mails from people wanting me to be their friend (or whatever the term is). Ok, so now that we're 'friends' what else is there to do.
I'm considering deleting my account.

Facebook used to be just for students, so as you move and go to different institutions (or even if you don't) you can still communicate with your friends easily. Now it's for everyone, so I guess the purpose has been expanded somewhat. Just ask Miss dhammer about it.

Added it to my FB groups.
Discovered on FT FB the "Where Have I Been?" map...kinda' cool, actually.
The new "Christmas Gift" and "Skier vs. Snowboarder" games are good time-killers
.
...and I'll have to try out Missydarlin's "Scrabble" games.

Didn't know we had a network on Facebook... and wow, what a network it is! Sounds like I need to get to more events as I barely knew anyone!

The only thing that bothers me about Facebook is the thinger that sends updates to your friends. So you buy a cool Secret Santa gift and suddenly, everyone on Facebook knows what you bought and when.
I gather they're going to finally change that to allow opting out of that sort of "instant update" marketing, but meanwhile, it's
to having to opt out of various updates individually.

Well, it clearly has the "addiction potential" and "time kill" potential that FT does
.
It's blocked at my company...which is probably a good thing.
FT is not blocked at my company.
