I just noticed this thread.
I won a United Way auction at my company and am going on a VIP tour of the aircraft and am invited to a dinner that night honoring the flight crew. Cost me a pretty penny (more like 50,000 pennies), but it should be worth it.
Access to the aircraft is going to be very tight and there will be numerous delegations going on board throughout the day. I really hope there's a chance for you all to get onboard, but I must say I very much doubt it will be possible.
I would be willing to skip my flight crew dinner to have dinner with all of you, though, so count me in.

That said, hose us us meeting should think about exactly where to meet. I don't know the airport (and surrounding area) all that well.

Mr kalkat and I will be in CT for a wedding this weekend and would extend our stay for 2 days for the Tuesday 8am landing. Is there any way to check the info I posted to confirm the landing time? I have written 2 different people at BDL, with no response, asking to confirm landing time and asking whether there are any viewing spots at BDL accessible without a boarding pass.
We're thinking of getting a room at the Sheraton. Apparently the lobby restaurant there has a view of the runway, as well as half the rooms. They also claim that the pool (I think on the roof) has a view of the runway.

An Idea . . .
I've got someone looking to get a confirmed landing time for the A380. Official festivities kick-off at 11:45 AM with a welcoming ceremony, but we don't know yet what time it actually lands.
I actually went ahead and booked a Club Floor room at the Sheraton BDL for $163 all-in using our corporate rate. I am going to call and see if I can get a guarantee from them that it will be a room facing the airport.
I expect the aircraft to land on Runway 6/24, which is the main runway used for arrivals and departures at BDL. It is nearly 2000 feet longer than the perpendicular runway, so I am very confident that this will be the runway.
From the Club Floor, you have a view of all the airport, except the touchdown zone of Runway 6, which has a 50% chance of being the runway in use. If it lands on Runway 6, you would be able to see it roll-out, but not actually touchdown. If it comes in on Runway 24, the view would be perfect.
Is anyone interested in using the room as a viewing base (and helping to defray the cost)? I don't plan on sleeping there, just using it for viewing purposes (and hoping it comes in on Runway 24). Let me know. I don't have to cancel until 6 PM on October 1.

Try to get a flight #, too.

Hello all!
I have been looking for information on this plane landing at BDL for awhile now. I even wrote a note to the CT Post for its no coverage of the event seeming its less than a week away. I live down near New Haven and have already taken Tuesday off of work to drive up to see this plan land and get some shots.
If it lands on 24 (stops on 6 end) then the best spot to be would be off Route 20 (heading West) there are some gravel lots you can find them easily.
If it lands on the 6 side (stops on 24 end) then staying on Route 75 North you can drive right by the end of 6, there is tons of open space in the grass before the fence there.
I am not sure of the times, I have heard 6:30am I have heard 8am. Does anyone know which is the correct one. Also to get a runway approach would be ideal for seeing where it come in from.
There are a bunch of places to eat around there, a few restaurants around the bend down 75 and a few places in the airport as well. I plan on getting there at least an hour before it lands to see this thing. I'm hoping they have some kind of security or police to direct people since I think it will be a big turnout to watch.
If you get anymore info, please let me know!

Folks, I have confirmation of the estimated landing time, but cannot make it public just yet.
Also, look for an announcement over the weekend or on Monday concerning the visit. It is good news, I can assure you, but I can't say now.
Sorry about that.
