Yeah, yeah, you count! :p

Seriously, though, I have rejected quite a few requests to join the group that I manage (a continuing medical education group) as the people had absolutely no need/tie/etc. to that discipline!:td:

I am resurrecting this thread because now that I run another Group on LinkedIn I have noticed that there are "chronic Group joiners" who join just about every group on LinkedIn, regardless of whether they meet the criteria or not. I wonder just how many of those in the FT LinkedIn Group are actually FTers!!!

How do I join that group?

If you're serious, YHPM...

I just got in today, and have already found my roommate from college 20 years ago. I joined the FT group.

I run a LinkedIn alumni group for a division of a company I used to work for. I am seeing the same thing. I amazes me that people ask to join the group that never worked at the company let alone within the division. In general I think LinkedIn is better than most social networking sites, but there are those that think that size (of their network) is better than quality.

Add me to the list on LinkedIN. Just sent a join request for the FT group.

I just looked at the FT group list, and I seriously doubt that all those people are on FT. I recognized a few names, but that's it.

I don't think any screening is done to ascertain whether someone is actually a FlyerTalker when they ask to join the LinkedIn FlyerTalk group.

There are a lot of people on LinkedIn who join everything and network with everyone -- they are "open networkers." Kind of defeats the purpose, IMO.

i see two groups on linkedin--flyertalk and flyertalk.com. is there a difference? they seem to have different owners.

You're right!

I don't know why a second one (the plain "Flyertalk" one) was started, but have e-mailed its admin to ask why. Maybe he didn't know of the existence of the "Flyertalk.com" group.
