OK -- I've stepped up.
We have a reservation at Neisha Thai at Tenleytown AU Metro -- 6:30 pm on Wednesday, January 31. I've included the name FlyerTalk in the reservation -- it is for 8 people now, but it probably needs to be bigger. Please post and I'll call the restaurant with the change.

Who's in?

mot29 -- tom
pranu
lawchild
entilzhaFT (but late)
skydiver + 3
headinclouds
Global_Hi_Flyer

entilzhaFT Jan 28, 2007 12:32 pm

The absolute earliest I can make it is 7:45, and that's if I cab out there. I don't want to take up space if someone else can enjoy the whole thing. If someone needs my space, it's theirs. Otherwise, I'll be there!

Trust me, GA, I'd rather spend the 31st with you than the guy I'll be working with in Fort Smith! ;)

Global_Hi_Flyer Jan 28, 2007 6:59 pm

I'm in on the 31st.

Fantastic! Thank you Tom! I have updated the first post.

I am going to shoot for 1830 myself - but coming in from the suburbs might be just a tad bit late. But should be there definitely before you get to your second round of drinks :)

headinclouds Jan 29, 2007 10:15 am

As previously stated in post #38, I'm in for 31-jan.

tazi Jan 30, 2007 5:06 am

Unfortunately, I am being sent to Fredericksburg that day so I won't be able to make it :(

 If you're that far south, you should hit DC at just about the right time to stop in for dinner on your way home :o ;)

Sent to Fredericksburg -- sounds like a confederate prison?

pranu Jan 30, 2007 6:28 am

Unfortunately I will have to add myself to the list of No Shows. Just found out about a big presentation on Thursday and expect myself to be at work late this whole week.

entilzhaFT Jan 30, 2007 9:24 am

Someone PM me by Wednesday afternoon if my slot is needed by someone else.

bhatnasx Jan 30, 2007 8:08 pm

Figured I'd post this here as this is something that's been discussed at length at various DC Happy Hours over the years and I'm not sure when I'll be able to make the next one...

For anyone doing the AAA thing - it ends on April 30th - BofA is taking over starting May 1st, no more MBNA.

TravelinWilly Jan 31, 2007 4:42 pm

You were at Neisha Thai in DC?!

Oh my goodness.

I called Neisha Thai to place a delivery order, and I hear this:

<To me> "Thank you for calling Nisha Thai, please hold, thank you!"

<To somebody in the restaurant> "May I help you?"

<Answer from some guy> "Yes, we have a reservation under FLYERTALK."

I thought I was hallucinating. So I came here to look and Lo! You're all eating at Neisha Thai! Had I known, I'd have shown up (I'm at Military and Connecticut at the moment).

All I can say is it was weird to call for Thai food and then hear Flyertalk!

Hope dinner was fun, and sorry I missed it!!!

Will

entilzhaFT Jan 31, 2007 9:26 pm

Great meeting everyone!

skydiver Feb 1, 2007 7:17 am

So now i'm down to to the level of "some guy"?:D

That was me asking for the FT group (the phone did ring just as I got to the hostess desk).

And yes, you did miss a fun get-together. Thanks to those that were there, the conversation, food and drink were great and we had a fun 3-4 hours. Also thanks to Going Away and pranu for riding heard on this event.

See you at the Freddies.

Fort Smith, Arkansas? Ewwwww. Makes me feel better about my monthly commutes to Detroit.

skydiver Feb 2, 2007 8:37 am

Ooops..

I almost forgot to thank mot29, who actually set up the reservations for this event. Thanks Tom and all of the other participants.^

Glad it went well. Sorry couldnt make it. Had a last minute presentation thrown at me - which luckily went pretty well yesterday.

headinclouds Feb 13, 2007 10:56 am

Anyone not going to London for President's day and wants to have a HH?

pranu Feb 13, 2007 11:01 am

Does NYC count? Sorry I am not in town either.

mlatuchie Feb 13, 2007 11:05 am

I'll be in DC visiting my SO, could possibly stop by a HH.

GoingAway Feb 13, 2007 11:06 am

I might be interested - i had to cancel my trip.

mot29 Feb 13, 2007 11:57 am

I'm not going to London, but I am going to the left coast -- Portland and Yakima. Sorry I'll miss it.
I am going to Stockholm the first weekend of March -- using the SAS advent calendar fare.
tom

Global_Hi_Flyer Feb 13, 2007 11:59 am

Is that next Monday? I should be in town for an evening thing. Had I scheduled my commute better, I would be home.... teach me to read a calendar.

The REAL party will be in Munich that weekend :D

GoingAway Feb 13, 2007 12:06 pm

Can I suggest this place? - don't think I've ever heard of it before, but G-dOSpoons posted it on another thread and I thought it looked interesting.

Since it is 1 block from my apt I'm all for it. I don't think that we will be using the roof deck :D But no parking nearby.

pranu Feb 14, 2007 11:36 am

so whats the date and time you folks are agreeing to? I will put it up on the first post.

Parking is a definite necessity for us suburbanites ... suggestions for where to go for that are appreciated :)

If anyone else is coming from the NoVa area, particularly along the I 66 corridor - let me know if you need a ride.

Depends on the day. Don't even try on Sat night, this Sun may be OK since Mon is a federal holiday, Mon early evening should not be too difficult. So, someone pick a day.

It's your party :)

pranu Feb 14, 2007 1:55 pm

While this might not help...

Normally when I am up there and I dont find parking in a couple of rounds around those blocks I end up in the garage that is diagnolly north west of the restaurants there - I think it is the Hilton Garage - SUPER EXPENSIVE - but its the only choice. :(
