Can't make it this year, but if you do something similar in 2008, I'll make every effort to attend! :)

Can you put me down in the bronze/maybe category?

I was planning to fly in two weeks after the DO, but maybe I can move things around...

Thanks!

Sean

I'm in Oz then so I may be able to make it. It's a good excuse to see NZ as they say it's a lovely country----very like Scotland.:)

Just noticed this Do, which is near-ish to me. But then I noticed the dates - bleh Nov = exam month. :(

Have fun everyone! :)

You can study on the trans-tasman flights instead of watching Kath & Kim :p

Sigh...priorities, mate. ;)

There's still a tiny chance that I might be able to make it - I've had exams all end in the first week of Nov. But that was when only 2 out of 4 subjects had exams - this year it's at least 3 out of 4 since ive ran out of bludgey subjects to do. :(

Just looking for Accomodation in Queenstown thet weekend; Friday evening (9th) is OK, but I can't see much at all 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th ... what's going on that weekend?

Kiwi Flyer Feb 12, 2007 10:58 am

After a bit of digging it seems the dates for cycling Tour of Southland have not yet been finalised and hotels are blocking some possible dates. Based on previous years the leg through Queenstown (or more accurately Frankton & Arrowtown) should be mid-week and thus not too much effect on hotel availability for the Do. Fingers crossed.

AFAIK there are no other major events scheduled for that weekend (I did check before choosing location). The adventure race Southern Traverse is currently scheduled to start from Queenstown the following weekend (date to be confirmed) which may affect anyone wanting to stay after 11th.

Finally, there likely are 1 or 2 conferences on. At the specific hotels where they are held availability may be less than normal. At the moment I haven't found any conferences on any dates 8-12 November, but it is likely there is at least 1.

Just come across this, and I could be interested. Good excuse to visit relatives up in Whangerhai.

Is there anymore news on actual activities during the weekend?

Cheers,
Rick

I'll be posting some more info on hotels and possible activities later. Queenstown has a lot to offer, and not only for the adrenaline junkies.

Some actitivities (eg bunjy, helicopter) can be quite expensive and take some nerves so not good for everyone. While Milford Sound is a nice side trip it is a long day (if going by car/bus which realistically is the only option when have limited number of days in Queenstown - by air is too dependent on the weather), so I won't put that on the schedule. Of course if any one is staying for longer I highly recommend making the trip.
