Yea - that should be fun. Been wanting to work a trip to Vancouver for some time now, and this was the perfect opportunity to do that and get another trip to Europe in within budget also. I have just scratched the surface so far on research, but it appears there are lots of interesting places to go in Romania. The trick in my mind when traveling around is to find a small family-run hotel or bed and breakfast with a friendly host who will help you figure out what to do and how to get places, etc. It will be challenging but also refreshing to go to a place where most people (at least those over 30 something) don't speak English very well.

Oh good, I won't be the only Canadian in BUH that week. Whew! :D

Maybe as we get more folks adding their dates we can plan mini-FT do's in BUH, should anyone be so inclined. :)

Both airports are actually rather close to each other. I wouldnt say either are in "the city". You have to take a bus, and then 1 stop on the subway to get to the main rail station(gare du nord). But the distance from OTP(farther out) to BBU is very close, and the same bus runs between both.. i would say less than 20 minutes from one airport to the other.

Rockyp has cancelled (I'm doing the CO deal instead). MCRT, you are now the guinea pig to BUH. Sorry that we couldn't share some fine Romanian wine together, but I'm sure there will be other opportunities. ;)

Thinking of booking a flight into SEA and then just taking a ferry to YVR...more cost effective, and would like to incorporate a night in SEA and couple nights in YVR. Anyone know how long the ferry takes to get there?

There is no ferry from Seattle to Vancouver. You could take the Victoria Clipper ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island and then another ferry to Vancouver, but that is highly impractical. Driving from Seattle to Vancouver (bus or one-way car rental) is the only other option, which takes 3 to 4 hours, IIRC.
