I've noticed over time, that many people celebrating birthdays don't have the courtesy to come here and acknowledge their birthday greeting. In the case of gleff, he's not even around since he started mp. His last post was 6 months ago.

Happy birthday Marty.

Happy birthday (a day late). I was too busy celebrating myself, I guess.

It's even more insulting when a poster actually posts in a thread on Flyertalk, and doesn't come here to say thanks guys.

Gary isn't the only one guilty of this. I've noticed a couple of others too.

not in this case, but in some others, people may not be aware of these threads

kind of bizarre [ironic/funny] you happened to post about him not posting 5 hours before he posted >

Posters that get these birthday threads, seem to be around more than others. Many (all) of them IMHO, are 'in the know' about these things.

In answer to your question, it's even more insulting that he's been on FT, and didn't post here. If I posted a birthday greeting that didn't get a response, I'd be pi$$ed.
I know of at least 2 others, but since it's not their birthday thread, I won't mention their names. Plus, that would be a TOS viloation.

Dan, and others, of course I appreciate the birthday greetings. Thank you to everyone who offered them, and to mrp alert a happy belated as well!

Several people sent me emails about this thread. I spent my birthday and the couple of days following at my grandfather's side before he passed. I apologize to anyone that I've offended by failing to give those messages which were offered in a generous spirit their due attention.

Sorry...Happy belated Birthday to you both hope you had a lovely day and great upgrades. I dont check into FT nearly as much as I used to so I missed this one !

Gleff - sorry to hear of your loss

To Dan - Some of us didnt even get their old Birthday threads bumped this year (haha FB does tend to take over these days I find).

EDIT...ok just saw my thread was bumped a few weeks after I checked on it...so I eat my words...Dan !!

This thread has taken an odd turn, IMO. Wishing someone a Happy Birthday is something that should be done in good spirit, not as a reason to keep score on whether they reply. It's quite possible that someone doesn't reply because they didn't notice the post or thread.

I agree of course. I was brought up to say please and thank you.

Sounds like a good topic for Omni.

What is your opinion about idiots who start these threads and then don't keep up with them in future years?

Oops! I am that idiot for this thread.

My apologies to Gleff and MRP Alert for not wishing them a happy birthday in time this year -- but I hope they both have happy days for the rest of the year.

Agree, & think it's inappropriate/really bad form that someone's thanks or lack of should be raised in a birthday thread. If someone has a problem with people not responding, they can either PM said individuals or start a generic thread re: birthday thread etiquette (preferably in Omni rather than screwing up someone's birthday thread). FWIW - I'm not sure why anyone feels a need to be thanked for sending best wishes, but that's a topic for Omni too

Again, birthday wishes to both Gary & Marty, & condolences to Gary on his grandfather's passing.

And you didn't even post in *my* birthday thread. Where's my scorecard?
