9/11 Moment of Reflection
Not quite sure where to put this, but I hope that the FT community will join me tomorrow in a moment of reflection / silence / quiet / prayer (whichever makes you most comfortable) at 0846 ET for those lost in New York, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania five years ago. May they rest in peace and may their families and friends continue to heal.

JBlaine, your thoughts do indeed cut across several forums in FT but I believe it is appropriate for consideration in our CommunityBuzz forum as FlyerTalkers as a Community were all affected in some significant ways by the events five years ago. I'll move it there for further discussion. Ocn Vw 1K, Co-Mod TBuzz and CBuzz.

Well, who doesn't remember the moment he heard of this tragedy. I've been sitting at the hairdresser as I heard something like that a small plane has crashed into the WTC. A short time later the story developed into the barbaric terrorist act it was.
I also remember well that I spent the rest of the day and the night in front of the tv, following the reports of those travelling at the time on flyertalk.
I hope that time will cure those who have lost relatives and friends.
And I know that those who have awaited 72 virgins in paradise now know what hell is like.

Clearly, any discussion of 9/11 events and the aftermath will elicit strong emotions and strong words.
I hope for the sake of this thread's purpose and longetivity that we can apply the breaks to side-topic commentary. After all, we've got OMNI and Travel Safety/Security for that.

Those who were FT members back 5 years back might remember the very long thread that doc started which was updated seemingly every minute by FT'ers. (Which unfortunately got corrupted in a later FT tech update so I can't link to it.)
I sat up all night (here) following that and live TV, shocked like everyone at what was unfolding.
FT was so far ahead (hours in some cases) of all the live TV networks as to exactly which flights, from which airlines etc, it was amazing. I recall the UA 93 plane that crash landed in PA was reported here at least an hour before networks got wind of it occuring.

I was at IAD the morning of 9/11. I will take a few moments this morning to quietly reflect the events of 5 years ago. It is a few minutes before the first 9/11 event so I will begin my reflection no. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones on this tragic morning in 2001.
