What will almost certainly be the final F/T Meet of 2006 will be held in Lugano, Switzerland, on Saturday, Dec 30 at 8 pm.
To be more precise, it will be held in the village of Canobbio, which is about 4 kilometers outside of Lugano.
It will start with dinner at the Grotto Ticinese , Via Cantonale, I Grotti 2, an excellent restaurant, of a type particular to the Ticino region of Switzerland, and very reasonable in price. It specializes in grilled meat dishes (although many other choices are available) and for the more adventurous among us, it usually has not only steak, veal, and pork but also wildlife including venison, rabbit, and boar.
If anyone wants to call the restaurant, its number is 091-967 1226.
Afterwards, we will go to my girlfriend's home in Canobbio to enjoy some brandy and chatting.
How to get to Lugano:
From most places in the world: Fly into MXP (Milano) and either rent a car or take a direct bus from the airport.
From a few isolated airports in Europe: Fly into the Lugano Airport. It is a bit outside of town, tiny, and I don't know if it has a car rental agency. There is, however, a shuttle bus into the center of Lugano. The closest train station is about a 15 minute walk from the airport in Agno.
From reasonably close European cities: Take the train or drive in on E35 (known as A2 in Switzerland and A9 in Italy).
Definite List (The Meet is definite as soon as we have six on this list).

I'd definitely be interested. More in Lugano than in Milan and more in the later part of the timeframe you gave. Possibly between christmas and new years...?

Between Christmas and New Years is perfect! I am looking forward to seeing more of MXP than my overnight on the way back from LCA allowed.

On the other hand, while summer is fantastic in Lugano (and miserably hot in Milan) during December Milan generally has a lot more to offer.

If memory serves, Ralf and his semi-incredibly beautiful wife did the same thing for the Venice Meet. They were there only for the dinner while others stayed several days.
The important thing is the dinner. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

Hi Dov,
put me on the tentative list - I should be done with exams by the 14th, it's just a matter of whether I would be in Switzerland or Germany by the time the meet rolls around.
Would prefer Lugano over Milan, but would try to make either place.
Cheers,
Alex

Alex, it was my pleasure to add you to the list.
If it is going to be in Lugano, we will probably need somebody to make the arrangements (which shouldn't require more than restaurant reservations).
As I said earlier, I know a very nice place in Milano and can handle the reservations there.

Sadly, neither came to pass.
Daydream, you have been added to our list.
