you know how shocked I was to see a thread with any reference to the good ol' SD...aka "God's Country" ??!!! For some reason, it doesn't seem to be a popular destination for most travelers ?
If only I were going to be back there for my dad's birthday this weekend- I was born and raised there. Of course, I am not certain when I will be there next, as my first nephew is due to arrive within the week... so who knows, I may post back and confirm my attendance. I have yet to meet fellow FT'ers at a DO. (well, mini-DO in this case!!)
of course, there's something to be said for retaining anonymity, esp with some of the characters of FT on the loose!!

I was also shocked to see a gathering in SD. I grew up there, my parents still live there, and I know that lovely airport more than I would like to. However, unfortunately, I won't be back this weeked
I was just back for my high school reunion a couple of weeks ago and had a surprisingly great time!
Have a good trip - hopefully the weather will be nice.

Sioux Falls??!!
No plans to be there at that time but lead me to remember my 30 days at the Sheraton Sioux Falls on a short term assignment there. Really enjoyed myself. I did feel the culture shock occasionally of being a born and raised Californian.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you grow up and what school did you go to? My dad was also born and raised near Sioux Falls, so my family has been around quite a while and we may happen to know some of the same people... ya know, "small world" and all that!
oh- and if anyone would be interested, perhaps I could talk to the folks and arrange a tour by John Deere tractor, or horseback trail ride for y'all??
but seriously, the Blue Angels air show is a good time- great show.

I grew up in the happening metroplois of Waubay, population 650 - up in the north east corner, two and a half hours straight north of Sioux Falls. My parents now live in Chamberlain, which is two hours straight west of Sioux Falls on the river.

aha- I am familiar with Waubay only by location, though I have driven past on my way to Fargo/Moorhead!!
You beat me there- I grew up just across the border in SD nearest to a little town in MN called Jasper... 1 stoplight and ~670 people...
and Chamberlain.. well, the home of Al's Oasis on I90, where we stop everytime we drive back and forth from Denver to SF...
lovely place...!
and, suefalls, by Minnehaha CC, were you referring to Country Club, or County Courthouse? Those were the first 2 things that popped in my head, and the circumstances surrounding would be quite amusing if the latter...
..though I assume you meant the former!!
(I was a crim just./ sociology major in college, to explain my mental association with the Courthouse...
)
