Hit goal: UA & AA lifetime midtier
Oof...oof...oof...need to catch my breath from the ridiculous push to the finish line over the past 2 months...
Well, this weekend I finally reached a longtime goal of mine: 2MM in American's AAdvantage program to go along with my 1MM in United's MileagePlus program. Now I can relax a little with AA Platinum (OW Sapphire) for life and UA Premier Executive (*A Gold) for life.
I've wondered for a while how many of us reach lifetime status in more than one FF program?
I made the conscious decision last year not to go for lifetime Platinum in AF/KL Flying Blue, despite having racked up 4 consecutive years of Plat toward the 10 required. The program just didn't seem worth 6 more years of agony (but I expect those at 7 or 8 years will see it differently).
I do kick myself for having dropped CO 15 years ago when I had 4 consecutive years of Gold... one more year of Gold would have gotten me to Infinite Platinum (under the new scheme), but I moved from NY to Chicago and United was tremendously more convenient for all my flying. Plus, CO looked like it was on the skids around then. Man, I could have had the FF trifecta! (*A-OW-ST)
However, I am very pleased with getting to these levels with UA and AA. Thanks to everyone at FlyerTalk for all the ideas, tips and encouragement it took to get here!

Congratulations! I crossed both milestones (1MM on UA and 2MM on AA) within a month of each other in the spring of 2004. Thus, I completely relate to satisfaction of the accomplishment.

Thanks, team!
Spiff, just this weekend I was enjoying a Calvin & Hobbes books marathon with a friend and enjoyed many a Spaceman Spiff episode. Made me think of one of my favorite moderators.
