If I want to get in with the " hey, that sounds interesting and cheap" folks where do I start ? Are there sites i can sign up for to let me know about cheap flights from Atl. ? No , I hav'nt done my profile yet, but I will, I promise. for now, I'm an artist/mastercraftsman, musicain, all around nice guy early 50 something -looks 40 something ( I know, we all say that ! )

Dan,
First, welcome to Flyertalk!
Second, you are at the right place.... we are those weirdos that look at that trip you mentioned and wonder why there are not more segments?... and which airline did you travel on?
Seriously, Flyertalk is a wealth of information. You should take the time to check out all the nooks and crannies... there are many!
Check out the forum for your favorite airline and/or Alliance. That is where the "weirdos" from your favorite airline hang out... my favorite is United and Star Alliance.... being in Atlanta, you might be a Delta fan.
Also, check out the Mileage Run and Hotel Deals forums. That is where people post the great deals they find...
Find a way to attend one of the Mileage Run seminars that are offered by one of our outstanding members. It is a great way to meet other Flyertalkers and get great information on producing 10 segments trips between ATL and IAD...
Check out the Community Forum for information on Flyertalk events that are taking place... it is a great way to meet people in person... and make new friends.
Hope that helps as a start.
William

Welcome, Dan! What type of music do you create/play?
Be sure to check out the "TravelBuzz" board for all-around travel questions.
I hope you feel comfortable in the FlyerTalk community, and once again, welcome.

Dan,
Welcome to FlyTalk! Since you are ATL based, let me encourage you to visit the Delta forum. We're a pretty friendly and welcoming bunch over there and discourage the eating of our young. I assure you that someone there will be able to answer most any question you have. If you're really intimidated, first visit the Delta Lounge Thread to get acquainted with some of the regulars, one of whom happens to be a sculptor and "mastercraftsman", too.
