I know that this will cause ILuvParis great distress but I will be flying ORD-BOS that evening for work.

Well, ElmhurstNick, you should know by now that your presence is not required for fun to be had at your expense. When is the Marquette Inn do again?

As to the Berghoff, I will be returning from a trip that day, myself. I hope to be able to make it.

If I'm in town that evening, I' be there. I usually don't know my schedule until the end of January.

I enjoyed meeting all the local folks last evening! Thanks SweetWillie.

Well, if last night is any indication, you could have been all tucked in with your glass of warm milk, by 9:30.

(Alas?) I'll be in Costa Rica, soaking up rays and cervezas.

Monday's dinner at Berghoff's was a kick, though. It was a treat to meet everyone, and I get chills -- chills, I say -- just thinking about the gold dust drifting onto my person from the neighborly yet sphinx-like Mr. Pillows. I hope I'm not being impertinent when I repeat an overheard snippet of conversation, something about "a sh*tload of options."

I should perhaps add, not being a regular at Berghoff's, that I had forgotten how delicious is cabbage cooked with greasy meat. Lord, that brisket was good.

Finally, as a public service, allow me to pass along to a more general audience my evaluation of Ativan (generic name: lorazepam) as unsurpassed among pharmeceuticals useful for long-haul flights. Unlike Ambien, which wears off fast and leaves me wide awake, Ativan imparts not only sleep but a wonderful feeling of comfort during waking hours, to the extent that, at least in my case, I'm so comfortable I don't want to move a muscle. Demand this miracle of modern medicine from your physician in 10mg, not the namby-pamby 5mg, dosage.

How would you ever know that I have a scotch and water at my elbow.

Later -

I would love to join you all but a weekday trip to Chicago isn't in the cards anytime soon.

FWIW: I had a fantastic reuben and winterfest beer at the ORD location this past Saturday. I'll be passing through ORD the weekend after next and I can't wait to get some more.

Enjoy!!!

It was great meeting some of you on the way home from NRT. I do not know my work schedule out that far but if I have the evening off I will be there.

I'm a definite maybe, if I can go standby for an earlier LAX-ORD flight and give myself a longer layover before flying out of ORD at 9:25 pm.

FYI, I live a few miles north of ORD so you would have a ride to the airport if you wanted. Unless you want to take the 1hr El ride.
