OK folks, so I am back in Chicago Jan 1-9 but doing a couple of mileage runs to SJC on 01/3 and SAN on 01/4 so am free for lunch on 3rd or 6th or dinner on 3rd or 5th onwards.

Thanks Nick for picking me up from the hotel (even though it did mean I missed the free happy hour !).
Enjoyed China Town - hadn't been to the Chicago one before.

It was great to see you again! Hopefully next time we go to Chinatown with you it will be a bit warmer and we can walk you around a bit more, you saw only a corner of it. And thanks too, to ENick for playing chauffer. Also glad one other FTer was able to join us via SMS even though ENick said if he'd really wanted to be there he would have

Holmedown, it was the least I could do for you dashing around trying to find a SIM for my before your flight. While Lao Sze Chaun has the atmosphere of a meeting room at a Super 8 in rural Iowa, the food is very good. We have to do a Chinatown dinner when it's not the middle of winter!
It turns out I didn't have any messages at all on the new SIM. 2 Messages meant "press 2 for the messages menu." Hopefully the call back to voicemail was free, or else I probably blew half the SIM value!
But I did try calling the phone from home and it rang, so it seems to be working.
And yes, he could have joined us if he had really wanted to be there. Fool has priorities beyond FT and food, that's not my problem.
