There has been a MKE DO planned for Dec 2nd at PF Changs for supper. There was some talk about the Chicago FT group adding nite activities. I suggested that they carpool and come up to Milwaukee to join us as several from Chicago had made plans to attend the MKE Do. It would be an interesting group. That was before several suggested Choc at the Pen. dawn

What abelscc said, kinda sorta not quite.... The idea for anyone interested in Chicago that evening (incl several out-of-town & one out-of-country FTers who will be in town that night) on Fri 2Dec to do Chocolate at the Pen was suggested elsewhere before you made the suggestion here about carpooling up to Chicago (edited to add: Willie did make a suggestion in that thread about letting people ride with him if they wanted to go to MKE, but also after the Chocolate at the Pen had been suggested by one who's visiting Chicago).
It's not a competition, just a matter who wants to do what and where

The MKE Do will be my first and I am looking forward to finally meeting FTers. It was a selfish attempt to gather more FTers in one place. I had just read the question about possible nite activities and thought how cool to combine the groups.

I am also planning a trip in 2007 for the World Forum on Early Education in Kuala Lumpur. It will be my first trip overseas. I noticed that shortfinals was attending and would been interesting to talk to. I am traveling from Door Co to Mke and wouldn't be able to make the Chicago lunch in time. I just wanted to do it all. dawn

I think it takes the addition of fredmartens to accelerate the arrival of security to our venue, and he's going to be hosting Keg DO. We should behave though hehe.

As for SIN, that's still up in the air. I'll go into detail when I arrive.

Oh, and sorry abelscc, I didn't intend to imply that you were creating a scheduling conflict, I was just trying to give cawhite a hard time for dropping hint that she has some conflicts to resolve.

The cheeseheads are very unhappy with "us" this year. (For you out of towners, read Chicago Bears. ) There definitely could be security issues even without Fred.

Speaking of da Bears.... anyone going to the game that weekend? That's why I will be in Chicago. Meetings in Oak Brook Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.....then going to the game on Sunday with my father. And yes, I am a Bear fan. It hasn't been easy over the past 19 years.....

Bears game...

I'm going to try and go to the game. Tickets via a friend who knows Urlacher... (crossing fingers).

can't make the lunch or MKE Do though - working 8-4, then flying to LAX to watch UCLA-U$C on December 3...

FTG is not directly off the Blue Line.. you might have to walk a bit (or take a short bus ride).

The train ride itself is usually just under an hour so adding on time to get to the station at ORD and wait for the train to leave you are probably looking at 1h15m to get to the Loop. I usually get off at Clark/Lake and jump in a cab to FTG from there - 5 - 10 minutes depending on traffic.

Don't worry, sounds like this will be an all afternoon affair.
