As I have 7 hr to get from OAK to SFO, would anyone be
interested in meeting for a bite to eat somewhere between
the two airports?

Cheers,
ML

Are you up to coming out to Walnut Creek on BART (I'd pick you up there)? I have a flight that night to requalify for EXP at 0030 SFO-PHL, and could drop you off at SFO just before your departure, and then just wait around for mine.

Thinking of Pyramid Alehouse where I had dinner last month.

Should be able to make the dinner depending on where/when my fixture is that afternoon.

If you decide on the where I should be able to raise the possiblity immensely.

Pyramid Alehouse is an excellent choice! The food is pretty good and the Snowcap Ale is my favorite of their seasonal brews.

Unfortunately, I can't make Walnut Creek these days as I'm now working in Palo Alto. Have fun and let's try to catch up the next time you're in town!!

I might be able to make this. I realize that tom911 is making a nice offer to shuttle violist from Walnut Creek to SFO in his car, but Walnut Creek is a bit out of the way for some of us.

Couldn't we do dinner at a more central location? How about someplace near SFO? Lots of possibilities there!

Tuesday night is tough for me for get to the City (and definitely not Walnut Creek!), but might be possible if it was around SFO. Work2fly, we're in Palo Alto too so ridesharing could work in that case.

I haven't seen tom911 in quite a while, and I would certainly
like to be able to accommodate his schedule. Is there any
location you would find agreeable closer to the airport,
perhaps for a late supper? Then we could perhaps also
fit in the Palo Alto and downtown people. Magic, would
you be willing to travel that far?

I could meet up somewhere in SF if that's where this ends up. Will check the thread for further details.

I could do something around SFO if it's after evening commute. I'm not up on restaurants down there, so I'd defer to someone in that direction for a choice and best time. Would still drive down and could shuttle Violist to SFO afterwards.

The standard place we seem to end up at near SFO is Max's in Burlingame.

Haven't been to Gulliver's house of prime rib in a long time (I think it's still there) but not a viable option if there are any vegetarians!

Max's is good.

There's also the Steelhead Brewery in Burlingame that's pretty comparable to Tom's initial suggestion of Pyramid. Beers aren't quite as good but the food's better...

Cool, never tried it. A few times before we've tried this kind of place and found it was out of business -- but according to their web page, this one still exists. They only take bookings for groups of 12 or more, don't suppose we could get to that size?

Food is served until 10pm on Tue-Thurs.

I am up for it. Max's is ok in my opinion. I went to Gulliver's a month or two ago and it has not aged well IMHO. Fook Yoon is an FT favorite, but some FT'ers might be getting tired of it.

I'd also suggest The Fish Market in San Mateo. It is pretty convenient to SFO, the South Bay, and the East Bay (especially if you are taking the San Mateo Bridge - which would be wise if you want to avoid the rush hour jam on the Bay Bridge). We have had at least one FT do here in the past (Ozstamps and Joh), and folks seeed to like it.

I can also volunteer to take folks to SFO, Bart, or Caltrain. (as well as provide rides from Caltrain).

I looked at their web site and the menu should cover a wide variety of tastes. That would work fine for me, and being so close to SFO is an extra.

I'm off to New York City Wed-Thurs-Fri and don't expect to have internet access, so I'll go with whatever is decided in my absence.

Anywhere downtown works for me for lunch or dinner. That would be far more interesting for a visitor than Burlingame...
