At least this year both Christmas and Hannukah fall on the same day - so no matter when you send the gift you'll be "on time" (well as long as it's before December 25th!)

Idsant, thank you. For some reason -- I guess I had looked at an old calendar -- I thought that Hannukah feel much earlier this year and had planned on taking a menorah with me on my trip to the States to be able to light the candles every night.

I love secret Santas like this. I hate the attempts we have at the office, and there isn't much family to share with, nd they pretty much make a list of two items by brand name and model number. All my friends expect some wine, so there is no suprize there at all, except when they open the bottle and have real wine for a change.

This and the other one, another online one, is pure surprize, never know what you will get, and this group especilly put some thought into it and it's a great group of people to get gifts from.

All I want is Peace, Love and Understanding. You have no idea how much that pisses off the people who ask me what I want for xmas.

Both, though giving is more fun on my end.

I like both, although I always have a ton of fun giving, and getting impatient and teasing the recipients prior to Christmas. The anticipation of the recipients receiving them always excites me and makes me happy.

I like both giving & receiving at Xmastime, which is my favorite time of the year. And yes I watch every schlocky Xmas movie on the telly, even if they're bad! I wrap my Xmas gifts while watching "Planes,Trains & Automobiles" (Steve Martin & John Candy)& "White Christmas" (Bing Crosby); it's a tradition.

I fly United 99.9% of the time (*Alliance if UA doesn't go somewhere), so SWUs, CR1s, RCC drink chits all happily accepted if my SS has any & is feeling generous

I LOVE champagne!, and enjoy good red & white wine. I eat most types of food (love Italian), but am allergic to seafood/fish & not that big a fan of Indian food.

While I work in the movie industry I actually enjoy movies as well, so go quite often to the theatre or rent from Blockbuster. So gift certs to Pacific theater chain or Blockbuster Video also happily accepted. Or even a dvd (scary horror ones are not my thing however).

I read constantly & usually donate a 100 books a year to the local library for their fundraiser after I've finished reading them. Hmm, Barnes&Noble gift cert comes to mind.

I don't drink coffee, but do drink Tzao Green Tea which Starbucks carries.

Needless to say, I love traveling - and meeting new people, such as FTers.

I live at the beach, so life is pretty casual unless I have biz mtgs.

And I'm not as tech savvy as my fellow FTers, so if my SS happens to live in the LA area & wants to show me how to use the new Treo650 I'm going to get courtesy of some UA promo, free lessons would be a good SS gift

I can't get into watching Christmas movies until Thanksgiving, when we watch Miracle on 34th Street - the original version, from the 40's, with Edmund Gwenn.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who loves to watch the Christmas Classics. It wouldn't be Christmas without the ritual of watching them. It is fun to wait until my children come home and listen to them groan. Secretly, I think they wouldn't miss them either. dawn

It's been a family tradition for years, and it has to be the original. That and the Charlie Brown Christmas special.

We groan, but you're right, I wouldn't miss them.

Just a quick check in from Santa... who is right now checking out of his Aswan, Egypt hotel room... waiting to take the overnight train back to Cairo.

Keep the sign-ups coming... I will get to them next weekend.
