I'm beginning to get the feeling that the initial Bali DO two months ago was too short for some. :D Everyone was having so much fun in a little less than 3 days and then suddenly boom.....time for everyone to go back home.

A longer Bali DO next year? Perhaps 5 days 4 nights? Just my 2c suggestion. ;)

Looking into flights now. What are the party flights?

Unfortunately not everyone is able to take a full week off work to do that...so the main events are Friday dinner through Sunday sunset...but everyone is obviously welcome to fly in as early as they want and extend the visit as long as they'd like to spend more time in Bali :)

You're right though about how much fun we were all having together :) And thankfully many of us have been able to get together in large or small groups several times so far (and later on) this year ^^^

Return flight is SQ147 on 28May (Sunday evening). I don't there's an actual inbound party flight determined yet. This year most BaliDoers were arriving Thursday night or Friday during the day (SQ142) in time for a late lunch together with those already there :)

Does this mean the arm-twisting is working??? <fingers crossed!>

I might be able to make 142 on Fri but couldnt do 147 on Sun (misconnects so lose a whole day) - what about 141 or 143?

This year the party flight ended up being 147 as there were 6 of us on it. So that means plenty of others flying out at different times that day (as well as others). This year the up & coming action hero even flew out a day before the rest of us :( (but at least he showed up for part of the time & that was what mattered most :) ). There are three of us currently booked on 147 for BD2006. If you can't make that one you can always create Party Flight II :) since there will be lots of schedules to be met. The most important thing is that you make it to BD2006!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed for a schedule change (ie 281 becomes daily instead of 5 x a week).

Do we have to sit in J for SQ147 to enjoy the party? :D I don't think my company is going to pay for something unrelated to business purposes, so if I'm going to be taking that flight, it's mostly going to be in Y. :(

Last May, four were in J and two were in Y. Someone in Y got a special dinner from one of us in J. Then, we took photos in the cockpit six of us...
Or, else, use your an award trip for travel SIN-DPS-SIN in J :D

Just out of curiosity. Is SQ147 designated as the party flight so that most of us can spend a night in SIN? :D

I called my TA today and she was able to offer me a decent Raffles fare of $15,500 HKD for HKG-SIN-DPS-SIN-HKG. But if I were to fly SQ147, I would have to overnight in SIN and then catch the first flight to HKG the following morning and I might have to be back at the office on the 29th. Unless one is connecting downunder or to Europe, SQ 147 leaves alot of us with awkward connections.

How about 143 like Kiwi Flyer suggested?

SQ147 was designated the party flight this year because 6 of us were booked on it...2 people to start and it went from there. Of those 6....4 were terminating travel in SIN, 1 had a connecting flight late that night and 1 had an early morning flight ex-SIN. It allowed those of us who wanted to to maximize our amount of time in Bali the last day. Our last "event" for the weekend as a group was to watch the sunset before many of us headed to the airport to go home.

For 2006 the sunset will again be the last group activity we have planned, followed by some # of us departing DPS later that evening. The whole weekend, for 2006 as was 2005, is to make what you can and want to be a part of (ie., in 2005 not everyone went to both dinners, not everyone did the spa, not everyone did the sunset, not everyone was on the party flight, etc). BaliDoers should book whatever departing (and arriving) flight works best for their connections; some will fly out earlier (or later) according to whatever works in their schedule. A few are already ticketed for SQ147, more will likely join (especially those not connecting beyond SIN), and others will fly out on different flights at other times including not on SQ and very likely there will be others departing on different days. Many will not book flights until much closer to May. Book the flights that work best for your schedule.

I am booked on UA838, leaves SIN 7:20 AM the next morning. Since I am on a paid itinerary, I havent ticketed SQ147 yet. I think SQ147 is the better flight so those leaving early next morning can party late.

For those terminating travel in SIN, they get more out of their weekend.

Okay I see. I would love to make it to the party flight. But if schedules don't work out for me and won't allow me to spend the extra night in SIN, then I'll book other flights. Never been in a party atmosphere flight myself though.
