As to when & where... Friday night at the Westin since several of us are staying there? Saturday night the same unless someone staying more fun (RC, Intercon, FS, etc) wants to invite us in or we could hop over to the Sheraton?

CGK, whatever you bring will be acceptable! Should we each plan on bringing a bottle of something?

Just praying that there won't be any mechanical or strike affecting my SEA-SFO-SIN flt on the 24th, else I would be screwed big time.
Keeping my fingers crossed. Of course you could always fly the SQ nonstop LAX-SIN with me on the 24th :) , I hear the dessert will be something special ;)

cawhite60156, I will most likely be at Westin on 26th and 27th, and Sheraton on 28th as well. Ubud is too far up north. I might just head down to Kuta or meet up with any other Fter's already in Bali. I reckon shortfinals is already camping at the Westin? ;) Is he coming?

Trying to convince one of our Norwegian Fter's to join us in Bali. He's starting out his CRWSTAR1 trip this week.

It's been a while since shortfinals has said which property he'll be camping out in the lobby of.

Paging shortfinals to the BaliDO Courtesy Phone...are you confirmed on a flight yet?

I have seen shortfinals green light on in other thread, as well as his postings. Perhaps he is planning a strategy how to beat you with all the suites? :D :D

He probably booked a suite for all we know... ;)

I was reading up on some past threads regarding SPG props in Bali. Looks like Westin is the better of the two, especially since there's a club lounge. I couldn't really care much about the lagoons are the Sheraton.

What about the Conrad Bali? Anyone staying up there?

Hmmmm, I did receive an interesting e-mail from the Westin yesterday confirming that as a PLT I'll be "entitled for an upgrade to suite room. However kindly be advised it will be subject to availability upon arrival" and a few other kind comments as well. ;) I may have to change my stay to both nights there @:-)

StarG May 3, 2005 9:42 am

ws8n: I am going to be at Conrad.

Oh, the reduced overdraft you mean? I am not happy with that only 50,000 miles overdraft allowed, especially after a month ago I gifted 65,000 miles to upgrade my friend's sister to F, for the purpose of allowing her to impress her big shot travel companion with the new F Terminal at FRA.

Hmm I remembered him from last SIN DO. Will he pass YVR by any chance? Tell him! Hope I can be his host. :D

The hotel must be afraid of upsetting many PLTs who will be there ... :D

Isn't it very wise of me as a mere SPG Gold to stay at Conrad away from the Platinum Battle at Westin? :D

Diamond Seats May 3, 2005 10:32 am

How about me as lowly SPG at Westin? :) I stay one night only at Westin using points. Just to be with the crowd to have an easy access for the pool party. :D :D

OMG...that's so funny ^ ^ ^ ....Kind of reminded me of my favourite TV program "Iron Chef". Are you sure u won't want to stay at the Westin? Imagine all the entertainment you will miss out. :D

cawhite60156, did they mention anything about lounge access? I wonder if they will upgrade to RBC rooms
Tried to book the RBC offer, but got an error. Looks like you'll be the first to check-in on the 26th. ^

CGK, Guttorm is heading up to LHR (SQ) tomorrow. He'll be in NYC on 16th (UA F), and then to NRT (NH New Biz) on 19th. I'm looking forward to reading his trip report when he's done with it all.

StarG May 3, 2005 11:33 am

ws8n: It's more convenient to stay at Conrad so that my kids can play with my niece & nephew who are staying at Conrad as well with my sister. Anyway... Conrad is close to Westin from what I heard.

Jubilee777 May 3, 2005 12:24 pm

oh oh....

I was contemplating to stay at the Conrad bascially due to the fact it is a new resort compared to Sheraton / Westin and I had already stayed at IC Bali before, UNTIL Daddy StarG decided to let his kids wreck havoc there ;)

but then again, it still might be better than the havoc that will be happening with the SPG Plats at Westin..... :D

StarG May 3, 2005 12:31 pm

Conrad was not my first choice, trust me. ;)
I just had a bad experience with them - held a conference there in early March.
They were so badly organized.

If you want to keep calling me Daddy, you should start sending me hong bao every Chinese New Year. Nothing less than USD300. Deal? :D

No mention of the RBC or lounge access, just what I had typed above. I'm going to call the PLT Concierge later to change my Sat night back to the Westin and will ask if they know anything about lounge access. I was surprised to hear from them, they were just acknowledging the special requests/comments I made when I set up the new reservation on line.

Thank you! Hope he enjoy his trip. And hope he will rate SQ in the top... :D :D :D He should max his RTW to 39,000 miles so that he can go to Bali DO, and he can add SYD for later...

I played around with starwood bookings, I can book RBC special offers but only with 2 single beds though. I went to Westin Bali Nusa Dua site, and clicked on the "Special Offers" which one of them would be RBC.

So, you will stay both nights at Westin?

I think so, unless someone can find a reason that I should be staying at the Sheraton on Saturday night (okay, a reason other than the extra stay credit)? Between the e-mail and the FT reviews and the Heavenly Bed...the only advantage I saw that the Sheraton had that the Westin didn't was the ability to jump into the lagoon from one's deck? :p Thoughts?

Diamond Seats May 3, 2005 8:17 pm

It's true though about Heavenly Bed. I like it as well. In SF, I prefer to stay at Westin St Francis, than Sheraton Palace. The bed makes a difference.

oontiveros May 3, 2005 8:23 pm

How far is the Sheraton from the Westin from the Conrad?

The Sheraton & Westin are next to each other. Not sure about their distance from the Conrad though.

Correct. Sheraton and Westin are next to each other. Conrad is in Tanjung Benoa. If I am not mistaken, it's about 3 km or 2 miles from Sheraton/Westin.
KuDeTa restaurant for Friday night dinner will be about 25 km from these hotels. Bumbu Bali for Saturday night will be quite near.

IIRC Bumbu Bali is about 2-3 minutes by car from Conrad.

ws8n May 4, 2005 11:00 am

Here's some pics of Sheraton Nusa Dua and Westin (formerly Nusa Indah). Brings back fond memories.....

I sent an e-mail back to the person (Res Sales) at the Westin asking about lounge access & breakfast for PLTs -- response was

Regarding your question pertaining the Platinum privileges, I am delighted to inform you that as platinum member you are entitled for :

I did let them know that there would be 3-4 PLTs and at least a couple GLDs staying there in the same group with me, some for one night & some for two (I couldn't remember the exact numbers, but figured that would be close enough). So they've been forwarned!

And thanks for posting the photos!

      kluau88 May 4, 2005 7:48 pm

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to wing this one :( Maybe I should also go get my head checked as I'm passing up an opportunity to fly SQ Raffles LAX-SIN-DPS-SIN-SFO.

      I guess next time.

At least still more than two weeks to think about it some more. Perhaps the wings will direct you then? :D :D

      oontiveros May 5, 2005 9:14 am

Ok that's it. I am confirmed. Booked 2 nights at the Westin and still yet to book my flights but I don't think it's a problem.

      See you all there.
