My first name and the first initial of my last name. Vasant wasn't available when I signed up for my first-ever online account many, many years ago, so I used VasantN. Since then I've used that handle just about everywhere for consistency.

Mine comes from the many years I have lived and worked in Russia. Back in Soviet times we used to drive out to Pasternak's dacha in Peredelkino, where he wrote Zhivago. Those were always special days, and I got a kick out of being allowed to sit at his desk, seeing his boots and coat etc. So, I usually use some variation on the Zhivago theme as a handle - often finding someone else has got there before me, making some creative thinking necessary!

Mine's derived from people saying "here comes the patent of the industrial world."

I put the UK on as most people here are from the US (although not all so don't flame me!) and often a question or post from me may be UK specific so I guess I want people to know I'm after the UK specific answer......

The airport I fly from is RDU, but the "rtp" in "rtpflyer" stands for Research Triangle Park where I work. (I didn't think that someone would try to interpret "rtp" as an airport identifier, but I was WRONG.)

I am big hockeyfan and this is the nickname of the arena where my fav team plays. When I got my first hotmail account back in 96 I choosed [email protected] and kempis was choosen when I joined FT in May 2000.
