I'm lucky enough to have a free weekend in DUS before heading off to London on Monday. I will arrive after work on Friday 3/4 and depart Monday am. It is my first time in the city and plan on seeing some of the sights, museums and other points of interest (recommendations GLADLY accepted!)
Anyone in the area care to meet for lunch, coffee, drinks, etc during the weekend?

Kevin - it is an interesting city.
I've been to all 4 of the FT Doos there in the last 4 years, all ably hosted by bernie, who may be travelling, I am not sure. If you pop into Cafe Bernstein and ask if Bernie is there, he may well be there sipping a black coffee. Be great if he has a DUS #5 in the mental planning for later 2006.
The Alstadt (Old Town) is a square kilometre on the Rhine with historical buildings and 260 pubs - a very large number of which have hosted FT'ers! It is fun to walk around and shop, but with the strong Euro, maybe the shopping for Americans is not such a big deal these days.
Knigsallee (the "K") is one of the world's most elegant shopping boulevards.
A couple of times I have taken the train to Cologne for a half day. Just do not mention visiting Cologne to anyone in DUS. You may be beaten up and jumped upon.
There is some neat old Castle we went to a year or two back, that was not too far away - someone may recall the name of it?

We are in Dusseldorf as I type, but will be jumping on a train to Frankfurt this afternoon and flying back to the States tomorrow.
We actually did have dinner with bernine on Sunday night at the Cafe Bernstein, no less. I think he may be contemplating another DUS DO, maybe in the fall. If we are not previously booked, we will certainly plan on attending any party that bernie puts together.

The castle ozstamps is referring to is most likely "Schloss Burg". Unfortunately I could only find their webpage in German: http://www.schlossburg.de/
Living in DUS I also have to stress the point that mentioning even the word Cologne in DUS could always be risky

(Hoping that will get a rise out of our German-speaking FTers.)
