Moving to Joizey (NJ) and non-AA rec's?

Hey there, All.

The Kids are on the move again, this time to Princeton, NJ. We have a bunch of AA miles and usually fly to Japan 4+ times/year, but are not fans of the new "$500 + 50K miles" to upgrade. We will be looking into perhaps burning thru miles with J awards (perhaps in JAL or other partner?) (can get company reimbursement for Coach tix for using personal miles instead of buying that ticket) after requalifying for Plat (why wait? I'm not sure! -Maybe so we can get comped status next year as we rethink Newark or other options.....

Any thoughts on other options to look into? We are mostly Asia + Hawaii flyers, but I'd like to fly East once in awhile from the cheap East Coast!!

Anyway, I hope to finally meet wharvey (or other ROC FTs) before we leave, and the NJ/NYC gang after March! PM or e-mail me (yahoo or my new mail if you have it!) if you want to get in touch.

Welcome to NJ !

As a mostly-UA flier, I find that EWR is reasonable as a home airport. AA only flies 757s to SFO and LAX, whereas UA has medium-sized aircraft going to west coast destinations. CO naturally has the most flights anywhere... but the prospect of CO coach for long-haul is just ugh.

So, UA or CO might work for you.
