Meeting FT'ers

Is this the right section of the forum to meet FT'ers live? And does this really work? Are the "stood-up" and cancellation rates high? I'm new here.

Yes, Zarcero, this is the right place.

I have met literally hundreds of Flyer Talkers from all over the world in the past 6 years. It is a lot of fun and some of those I have met have become real friends.

I have never been stood up on a one-to-one meet. Sometimes in larger "Get-Togethers" folks have to cancel out due to work or other commitments. I know I am right now disappointed that we can't go to Shanghai, Singapore and Venice to parties that conflict with our work schedule. (I should have thought ahead and been born filthy rich.)

meeting FlyerTalkers has certainly made our travel a lot more interesting. ^

Never been stood up to date, but cancellations happen, no big deal, its life.

Take a look at the Do's near you or to where you are traveling, join in, all FT'ers are welcome.

Plan your own as well. For instance, I knew I wanted to go dine at a certain restaurant when I was traveling on a certain day/time. Simply posted the details and was joined by a wonderfull local FT'er. I would have dined there anyways if the FT'er had not joined me, but I prefer the company.

Welcome

Zarcero, welcome to FT and to the Community forum. In addition to the welcomes given by the esteemed members above, for the larger cities, (Bay Area, NY, Wash., DC and Chicago and some others) there are lists of FTers in those areas and a search of threads should reveal or we could help you find them. But as the others have said, meeting up with other FTers is as simple as either joining an existing/planned event or suggesting your own. All we ask as to events/requests posted in Community is that they be open to all who can attend and agree to the arrangements.

Welcome to FT! Yes, as others have said, sometimes people do have to cancel or change plans (but that happens in the non-FT world as well). If you want to meet up with some of us, just keep checking this board, or when you know you'll be in a certain city--post it. Something simple like "I will be in Chicago, London, Hong Kong, Katmandu.... etc this Sunday 7/11th. If anyone wants to get together, let me know. Either you'll get a personal reply via your e mail or the internal msg system or they will post back on FT.

Zarcero,

Since you list your location as from the internet , I suggest you join us in Chat one evening. As I'm fond of saying, we talk miles, points, and etc.
Especially etc after 11:00pm (2300) eastern time.

Anyone else care to join us? Or do we have to start offering food?

Uh, okay. I'll try the chat stuff. I see there is a scheduled chat at 2000 and 2045 [ET] daily.

So who is this Randy Petersen chap, is there some bio on him around here??
