She's not high on my list of "women I'd take to Venice", so I'll make you a deal. If I come with F, then you can have her until I round up B, C, D, and E. I can have her UNTIL he rounds up the others? I can only presume that by herself, or even in combination with B, C, and D, she is of little interest to him. It is only when he has all five of them that I would have to return F. Surely a man who is confident enough in his abilities to satisfy five women at one time is a dangerous person to have around our female folk! On the other hand, Platbrowngal A, by herself, is able to match the other five. She must, indeed, be a remarkable woman! Wow. I just reread my post. I believe I meant to say you can have her once I round up B, C, D, and E... or perhaps-- ah, never mind. But no, Platbrowngal F annoys me, she won't be coming. And no, unfortunately "A" isn't remarkable enough to match B, C, D, AND E... such a woman would indeed by truly amazing... This will get straightened out later today... I don't think bringing a platbrowndude to Venice is too gorgeous of an idea. |
On my last visit to Italy, the UIG took me to Pavia where we spent some time with the daughter of a childhood friend.
The daughter, in her late 20's, is knock-out gorgeous. She also speaks English perfectly (with an Oxford accent, having studied in England for several years). She is an MD, currently doing her residency at the University of Pavia Hospital. I wanted to buy her as a souvenir but the UIG pointed out that her father, who drives a Mercedes, has two homes in Como (one on the lake, one in the nearby hills) and a third one in Milan, probably is not too desperate for the few Euros I could scrape together. She broke up with her boyfriend last year and -- as of two weeks ago when she came to Israel for a visit -- still has not found a replacement. Her one drawback: She is specializing in Tropical Diseases. This is a problem in that there are very few Tropical Diseases in Northern Italy. Unless there is a very big outbreak of ebola or leprosy in the area shortly she will probably have to retrain in another field. Platbrownguy, if you can manage to contract a particularly interesting Tropical Disease in the next few months, oy do I have a girl for you! |
So, Dov, you're a yenta (or whatever the male equivalent is)?
How 'bout fixing me up with a nice Italian guy? At least for the duration. |

Ummmm.... does he like older women?

This girl sounds amazing but I don't know about the late-20s thing...

Dovster, if you’re going to be trolling for potential platbrowngal’s for platbrownguy, you need to remember that late 20’s is ancient and one-foot-in-the-grave material for him. I realize this is a perspective that you and I have a hard time dealing with considering we own socks that are in their late 20’s.......:(. |

Members, I know it's fun to banter about socks, coats and potential companions, but for the benefit of all FTers, including many planning to attend the VCE do, could we please use this thread to focus on the do? Omni or chat is available for unrelated topics. Thank you for your understanding. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator.

A moderator has moderated, as moderators do. This particular moderator did so in moderation, so I suggest that we follow his advice -- moderately.
By that I mean that we do not continue the joking here, but we also do not post it on Omni nor go to chat. Instead, go to post # 1 in this thread and click on the "Delta Forum Silly Thread" and place less-than-serious responses there. (If you have not yet posted to that thread either and want to keep up on the bantering, either subscribe to it or make a post on it which will automatically subscribe you.) |

Let’s keep this one open for information and travel tips on VCE and the other to banter. |
OK, I'll take my silliness over to the Delta thread. ;) Actually, MOST of my contributions to this thread have been serious, or rather, relevant to the original topic.
And in case they got lost in the shuffle, let me call attention to two of my posts on page 12: #166 and #173 (yes, I know how to link to them but don't have time right now). |

Many of these posts reveal the true nature and characteristics that the Meet will have. I have been at Meets where the organization was tightly controlled and everybody stayed on subject and I have been at Meets where there was a large amount of free-wheeling and things made up as everything went along and as people decided where they wanted to go and what they wanted to do. I can assure you that the latter is preferable, and the best thing for anybody who is thinking of coming to this Meet is to read the posts and read into the posters. In addition to the large amount of factual and preparatory material about the destination and assistance in travel and lodging information (more than on most of the other Meet threads) that can be found here are the characters on display (altho I wll admit that some of them certainly make spectacles of themselves), and I don't think that I believe that such displays should be attempted to be squelched by a first time poster who has no plans to attend, even if he does carry the title of Moderator. I see no violation of the Terms of Service in this thread and challenge this Moderator to enumerate, for I can see no such conduct as "repeated exchanges between "undisclosed" family members/close friends" that do not include at least one newcomer who has in fact been the stimulating factor in the exchanges. Just my 2 cents and, of course, all may feel free to disagree with me on this subject. |
Am I dreaming?
Venice. November. Aqua Alta. Mist. FlyterTalkers. Few tourists. The Dovster.
Can I do this? Leaving from SAN, have to be in SF by Nov. 24. Have no time off work, and need to use this as a MR. Airfare seems to be holding at $698, yecch. Should I fly SAN-VCE-SAN 11/18-21, go to work 11/22 and 11/23, then fly SW to OAK on 11/24 or call in sick from Venice?? Please, tempt me. I absolutely LOVE Venice in November (and have waterproof boots) :p |
