What about Oct or Nov?
Isn't September basically tied up w/ Dos & Labor Day weekend? What about Oct or Nov? Mainland is probably cheaper to get to than Ireland or Hawaii, although I think the words cheap & golf don't go hand-in-hand. Kind of like skiing in that respect

Yes, but not everyone is going to be at every DO (or wanting to attend every DO), so don't we have a bit of flexibility with that? (Just asking since I'm still a FT novice...please don't anyone interpret that question as an invite for a flame war)
JMO, but I'm already golfing Hawaii later this year with friends so I'd like to see something not already on my books for this year. I"d love to do the Carolinas if it's early enough in the autumn as it's absolutely gorgeous out there. Someone else (ahem...you'd better post when you get home!) suggested MCO.

I don't even know of any other dos (so perhaps I'm just not paying attention
). As far as October and November - that's hurricane season here in the Carolinas folks
Personally, I think that we may get more people if we keep it simple i.e., not having to travel across the world to play some golf.
Late August/early Sept is also good weather/golfing in Phx too (plug for jan_az)

If we do PHX, we could also push it later in the autumn....right?

There's lots of courses in the Louisville area, too.
Fuzzy Zoeller has a course that is about 20 min from SDF.

Jan's got it right!
Golf & spa - how cool is that?
Ok, btwn labor day, oktoberfest, denver brew fest, etc, some of the folk posting on this thread that they'll do a golfdo won't be available if it's in sept. i'm still voting for oct or nov, but if it happens when i'm not available, then i designate cawhite to take my place doing the gopher dance
although she needs to start practicing now cuz i'm good at it
btw - i'm a bit surprised that we actually haven't heard from more folk who golf (no disrespect intended to those who have posted).
and spiff, while i'm not familiar w/ courses, anything that has fuzzy in its name sounds fun to me!

Could we make a decision here soon so that plans could be made soon? If there are enough of us, we could probably negotiate with a hotel for a good rate/package.

Skiadcock...one of the benefits of learning how to golf (and yes, I really do despite years of swearing I never would) was never having to do the gopher dance in public again!

golf in Orlando
As commanded, I am suggesting the Golf do in Orlando in late Sept. early Oct. The advantages are
lenty of courses with all types of challenges (including gators), cheap airfares to MCO; ton of accomodations fitting just about everyone's memberships; very convenient for me
; and stuff for the non-golfers and offspring to do. Rates are low and the weather is still good that time of year with the exception of the unwelcome hurricane. Let me know what everyone thinks. Just a suggestion.

But what in the world (
) could there possibly be for the non-golfers and kids to do around there?
