How Big Is Our Meet?

The Great Delta Board PBI-FLL Meet (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...21&postcount=1), which is not really restricted to Delta flyers, now has 26 people on its "definitely coming" list.

This made me wonder how it compares, in size, to other meets. I am certain that the Freddies (is that considered a meet?) have more F/Ters and it is very possible that the Brooklyn Reality Tour also does (am I right?).

But what about other meets? Have there been many larger than the upcoming PBI-FLL meet?

Also, are most other meets local ones? In this case, most of the people coming are NOT from South Florida. They are flying in from as far north as New York, as far west as California, and as far east as Israel. Is this usual?

FlyerTalk Dos vary dramatically in size and draw. Historically, the Catman Dos were strong draws. I believe that the third drew in excess of 80. Missy gets a good turnout for her SEA Dos. We had about 60 in San Diego 3 years back (my first ever Do to attend or co-organize - I'd met just 3 FTers at that time).

Chicago two summers ago was a huge draw, and the big event for 2002. I believe that AnnaS, comicwoman, and Elmhurst Nick welcomed about 90 to Chicago. The London Do last November was a runaway success as people needed to grab more miles toward status. We had about 110 FTers fly in from many parts of the globe.

Some of the most fun I've had at Dos have been at more modest ones. DEK had one in Maine (and is planning a repeat this year) that I highly recommend. I think we had 18 or so - a perfect number for getting to visit with everyone there throughout the weekend. Old Gold has given some terrific parties in Tucson. The one I attended had about 25; a wonderful group of people and great fun.

Enjoy your Florida Do which I am sure will have some of the liveliest conversation of any, given the repartee I've seen between some of you online!
