WineDo - Sunday June 4, 2023 in NYC at North Square

16th Annual WineDo - NYC Sunday June 4, 2023 at North Square
Time: the usual 6:30. Folks start arriving around 6:00.

Save the date - June 4, 2023 - Sunday, at North Square in Greenwich Village. Cost will be about the same as last year - high $80's - low $90's (unconfirmed at this time). Homepage - North Square As long as the food continues to be good, we'll keep returning to our private room. It's an enjoyable and intimate experience.

Theme: TBD, or I'd rather say Up in the Air for now.
So after a theme is decided, our custom at these dinners is to bring a Champagne or a sweet wine if you're not sure what to bring.

If you're new to the dinner, the buy in (verifable on CellarTracker or Wine Searcher) is $35.00.

Interested in joining us? New attendees and the regulars are encouraged to attend. We're warm and welcoming. At dinner, we talk miles, points, and wine. For the cost of a bottle of wine, you'll drink lots of other good bottles; some costing more than $35.00, and as high as $150. You can purchase when you arrive in NYC, or source from my cellar. You can also ship a bottle in advance to my house.

We're always fine tuning the dinner and wine selections. Last year we had roughly 15 - 18 bottles. Last year we had 13 people for dinner. Our maximum is 24. With less wine, I dare say we had a more enjoyable wine experience. It was fun tasting and enjoying what was brought. Take a look at the thread from last year (last couple of pages).

My (our) late friend violist said I would suggest we double up (pick a partner, whatever) on bottles - that way we can have a manageable number of pours of maybe even better wines that many of us wouldn't have the chance to otherwise try. Last year 3 of us went in on an expensive bottle. I'm open to this if you are. Everyone had the opportunity for a pour.

My suggestion again this year (and it seems to work) - couples bring 1 bottle of $70 wine instead of 2 bottles of $35 wine (if possible). If you'd like to source from my cellar (any attendee), we can double up. Heck, we can even triple up and I'll bring a bottle costing $35 x 3 ($105). That still gives us lots of wine to taste and enjoy. And with less bottles, I can sit and enjoy myself and each of the wines, and so can you.

As for the theme... previous attendees know what WineDo is all about. Last year we had many new attendees at dinner.
At WineDo 1 and 2, we were asked to bring our best bottle to dinner. We had $10 - $200 bottles. Over the years we've had theme dinners. This year, bring TBD. The minimum buy in is $35.00. I'll ask you to post your wines in the spring.

Maximum 24 attendees. Payment details to follow this spring.

See you in June.

There is a reasonable chance that a wine-aficionado friend will be joining me, so please add a +1 to my entry.

I'd like to chip in to source a wine from your cellar. Last year's selection was astounding!

I'm planning to attend as well, as long as you'll have me there and happy to source from your cellar again.

I heard back from North Square. We're confirmed. Same menu and price as last year. I still wonder how they manage to do it at Flyertalk pricing.
