I've been to a Do where it was the same day as TravelCon and they ended up joining us after their events and everyone had a great time. It doesn't have to be a competition.

To be fair, the people who attend that conference are people looking to get into the points/miles travel game. I'd imagine that with enough time and self research (and asking questions) here on FT, one wouldn't need to pay to attend such a conference.

Frequent Traveler University FTU) is a for-profit educational/motivational/networking event created to compete with the non-profit Chicago Seminars.

FTU happens several times a year in various US cities, the Chicago Seminars happens in October in Elk Grove Village, a suburb of Chicago.

I have never attended an in-person FTU, but have been to almost all of the ~11 Chicago Seminars. Lots of ideas and strategies regarding miles and points are revealed in the open sessions, and other methods of a more lucrative nature are shared among friends.

The last in-person Chicago Seminars was held in 2019 (due to covid), and here is its FT thread.

For-profit... Non-profit... Distinction without a difference? Both seem to be populated by the same group of travel bloggers credit card shills. And those bloggers shills are certainly in it for the money.

Save your time, save your dollars and drink with FTers at a DO instead!

Hope it works out. Would be great to see you two here in my adopted hometown.

Wakesetter93 - you can now upgrade me to probable for this DO. I probably won't be available Saturday night (opera) but should be free the rest of the weekend.

If anyone wants some good BBQ while here in the Metroplex I wouldn't mind some company waiting in line at Cattleack BBQ on Friday the 1st. (Or perhaps Saturday since it will be the first Saturday of the month, though I'd prefer Friday)

I can upgrade you to a going/maybe. Also, I figured we would do some sort of HH on Friday and a brunch on sunday. Can definitely add the BBQ to the agenda if you're wanting to do that!

Am interested in attending so please mark me as a maybe. Where would be the most convenient place for lodging (by DAL, downtown, market center, etc) Will I need a rental car?
