Virtual JAPAN DO !!!

kpc has reminded me we should have been having welcome drinks at Japan Do this evening (in about 30 minutes to be exact). So let’s hold a virtual Japan Do, not involving a Zoom call but by posting photos or stories of what we might have been doing or what we did during past Japan Dos.

Here are a couple of photos from the first Japan Do in 2013 when welcome drinks were at Hearland in Roppongi.

I’m glad you have some photos of the place since all I could find was this image I posted in the Do thread. (Not taken by me!) Hard to believe it was the last Japan Do.

On Saturday most Japan Do attendees go on a longer day trip.

During the first Japan Do in 2013 some members went on the Nagano Shinkansen for a day trip to Nagano while others had a cherry-blossom walk in central Tokyo. In the evening many joined a yakatabune dinner.

A day trip to Kamakura and Enoshima on Saturday during Japan Do 2014

A day trip to Nagasaki in 2015 on a beautifully decorated train

2016 day trip to Kyoto. Some people ended up in the Nishiki Market.

In 2018 some people visited the former Japanese Navy underground HQ as well as a supermarket.

A day trip to Otaru for some in 2019 while others went on to Yoichi for the Nikka Whisky Distillery

I vividly recall attending the 2013 Tokyo Do and IIRC we enjoyed a visit to HND before the yakatabune dinner. Hard to believe it's been 8 years but that was a special trip as my visit coincided with the peak of cherry blossom Sakura season.

Thanks for the travel memories!

On Easter Sunday during Japan Dos some people set off on their journey home but others join more trips/visits or do their own thing.

On Easter Sunday 2014 we had a memorable trip to Hakone, which could have been anywhere given the visibility when we reached Owakudani where this photo looking towards Mt Fuji was taken.

On Easter Sunday 2017 many Japan Do attendees flew to Seoul for Korea Do

At the end of Japan Do 2018 a number of attendees went on a post-do trip to Tokashiki island

On Easter Sunday 2019 a group of FTers visited the Historical Village of Hokkaido followed by ubiquitous bowls of ramen for which Sapporo is famous
