Travels frequently.
|
My turn. I fly somewhere between 300K and 400K each year, all over the planet. I'm UA 1K, BA Gold, Alaska MVP, NW/KLM Gold and have normal cards with a lot of other airlines. I also have a bunch of elite hotel cards.
Like Newself/Dave I live in Long Beach, CA and love Ice Hockey. I have 4th row season tix with the Mighty Ducks. But I rarely have a chance to go since I travel so much. I also have a home and office near Nice, France on the Cote D'Azur (French Riviera). I work in the tele/data communications biz. |
Traveltoomuch,
I work at the leading communication technologies company in the world! [This message has been edited by stimpy (edited 02-19-99).] |
Greetings. Some info about me
I am 50, married, grown kids, just ask me about my grandkids. I work for P & G and travel every week. Lots of trips from Denver to Cincinnati, and then to other cities. My travel seems to run incircles--Last 4 years Denver to Phoenix at least every other week, and points west other times. Now East. No foreign travel so far on business. Hobbies: include Denver Broncos fan, Chess, Travel(non business), technology/computers. Username is reference to Pink Floyd under old DOS stuff. Floyd |
I'm 32 and was born and raised in The Netherlands. Moved to N.Y. in 1996 for my employer(the largest Dutch bank). After two years in N.Y. decided to move to San Diego to work for a friend of mine (private money manager).
Most of my travel is now between San Diego and London (business) and Amsterdam (home). Started flying (more)frequently in 1992 and after a little fling with KLM (sorry but don't like their program) decided to fly BA. I have been BA Gold since mid 1994 and fly 50-75k per year. |
Hurray! Another New Yorker on the board!!! It's nice ot have the East represented as well as the other Coast and that big four pointed Star State! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif CATMAN

Here's my bio...I run a niche company out of the San Diego area, selling edited audio tapes of radio stations around the country to other radio stations & air personalities; and video tapes of radio personalities in the studio, on the air.
So my travel is to record stations in top 50 markets across the country and I usually do 30-40,000 miles a year at the lowest advance purchase tickets, and visiting several cities on each trip to keep the cost low. Since I'm carrying fragile audio & video equipment with me, I carry 2 bags on. When United started that 1-bag experiment in Des Moines unless you were a Premier, I started giving most of my miles to United to get Premier status.. |
OMNI to Stimpy: OK, now I'm curious..send me an email on the specific company you work for. I'd sent you the name of my company I work for but you did not list your email address on your info page.
My email: [email protected] |
Hurrah to BB for bringing this thread forward. Nice to see so many San Diego folks around -- and ice hockey fans too!
Whenever you're in PHX... Thanks all for sharing with us... |
Well I guess it's my turn.
My name is Jeff(duh), I'm 43 and live just outside Baltimore, MD. I am a Field Service Manager for Beckman Coulter, Inc. We manufacture research and diagnostic instruments for the hospital and pharmaceutical industry. Most of my travel is to southern CA and Indianapolis. I fly UA almost exclusively thanks to the great fares I get out of BWI. I have a wonderful, understanding wife and two boys 16 & 12. I am originally from San Jose, Ca and have lived near Philadelphia and in New Jersey. BTW, one of my brothers works for UA at SFO. I spent a little time(6 yrs) in the US Navy on submarines. Any other submariners on FT out there? Anyway, I just found FT a couple of months ago and enjoy checking in and learning from some of the masters here. |
Hello fellow San Diegans! Nice to have you here!

Time to ‘fess up as well. I’ve been following the board since last May, and am addicted! I’m one of the few females here (that I can tell), and 99% of my travel is of the leisure variety. I’m new to the DC area after 15+ years in southern CT, though my heart is still back in my hometown outside Cleveland. (Hooray for Southwest and MetroJet at BWI!) Thanks to suggestions I’ve read here on the board, this year I’m focusing on making elite on USAirways (I’ve already used your advice to upgrade to 1st class using miles instead of taking a free ticket to Phoenix earlier this year!).
I also love international travel, planning a return visit to Germany in May 2000, though Paris is my favorite city. If it’s in the cards, I’d love to come to the Party in Paradise in November as well. PS. to CATMAN; I’m also a Red Green fan! |
My name is Bill Fickas. I am 37 years old and live in Denver, CO. I am a firmware engineer for a major manufacturer of computer hard disks and tape drives (Guess which one, it starts with Q :-D)
Since starting the job last September I've been out to our location in MA four times. Being a comfort oriented guy, I decided I'd better accumulate enough status to upgrade those uncomfortable economy flights. |

100K, I guess you are a B's fan?
CSCO is only large in market cap since they trade at something like a million times earnings. LU is larger in every other way. Send me an email when you get a chance. Congrats on 100K domestically! That is a real chore. |
