If you guys do a Boston area FLyerTalk mini
convention, I can be up there in about 90 minutes from EWR. Demeter: Good luck with your medical career and I hope in all your traveling you can get some time to enjoy the beauty around the world. CATMAN |
Counsellor:
Yes, I, too, remember the little brass strips, and I still have my plaque (on my teeth, as well). I also remember being told that I was the first person the local UA rep had delivered a Red Carpet membership card to that also included a bill. |
Okay, okay - stop the begging and pleading - EMD will reveal herself!!!!!! Seriously - this is really a great forum and I usually get quite a few laughs out of you guys. EMD is an attorney-consultant for a large insurance company - I travel to the East coast quite frequently, often at the last minute (love those full fare tickets) - and I have friends all over the country and not the income to visit them all as frequently as I would like!!! I am getting very spoiled as I travel first class more and more and am gradually getting used to all of my travel - (60K miles in the last 5 months) - I'm no Catman or Rudi, but I'm getting there!!

FFlyer: VARIG (1st), AA, JAL and QF (this won't last long ,... don't agree with their policy of account keeping fee !!) Flew about 60k last year (US,CAN,JAP,NZ...) regards to all Mauricio |
hey, I just found this thread and wanted to throw in the following:
- I lived in Bethesda, MD, too, for a period of time (Montgomery Blair HS) - flew 77000 or so miles last year - I bet I'm actually the youngest flyertalker, I think I beat you, megamiles. *grin* |
Well as you all know by now, Marvella is a Queen, a drag queen to be exact. Marvella resides in South Beach, Florida and performs at various night spots throughout the Miami area. Marvella lives with her husband, aka Kitty Meow (we are cat and also dog folk). Kitty Meow is not into the drag scene to the extent Marvella is, in fact Kitty Meow's usually occupation is lawyer. Both of us being divas, can create quite the spectacle when things go awry when travelling. Flight attendants, gate agents, reservation agents, Red Carpet Room receptionists are sorry when they cross us -- we are demanding and usually with enough ranting and raving we get our way. Marvella racks up the miles flying from venue to venue (she performs at various locations throughout the US and other countries). Of course, Marvella's performance are marvelous. Marvella is the savvy traveler (sorry Rudy) in the family. Kitty Meow has it made, she just packs her bags and follows Marvella. Kitty Meow seldom interferes with Marvella's decision on travelling, except when accomodations are in the form of a tent in the bush in South Africa. No roughing it for Kitty Meow, even if their is a bathroom in the tent.
As with any diva, Marvella is demanding, but she is loads of fun especially when travelling and her free spirit is contagious. She can have everyone seated around her on the plane laughing and visiting with each other in no time. She is a party girl. Queen Marvella |
Having just found this board a few weeks ago (and lurking ever since!), I guess I should introduce myself too..
I'm a 19 year old (Did I beat everyone? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif networking consultant based out of New Jersey. Most of my travel comes from visiting our company's data centers all around the country, LAX & PHX being my most frequent stops.. My parents got me hooked on flying, both having worked for the UN during my early years. I'm a lowly Premier on UA, having flown about 45k miles last year... That will probably increase by a third or so this year. Maybe I'll be UA's youngest PremEx? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Regardless, from my lurking, I've grown to love the tips and inside discussion on this board. To the regular posters, keep up the good work! |
O.K., time for some info on me...
I'm 30, live in Chicago and I am a PeopleSoft consultant who does not work for PeopleSoft. I've been a MileagePlus member since 1992 when I went to Alaska for vacation but last year was the first time I hit Premier/PremExec. I've been on assignment in Boston for about 1 year and fly back and forth every week with the occasional staff meeting in Bethesda (never lived there, but been there! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ) I flew about 80,000 miles last year and fell 8 segments shy of 1K http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I'm single and enjoy leisure travel (& work travel), wine collecting, reading, volleyball (haven't played in a while though), movies (avid Star Wars fan and not a geek!), music, theater....I could go on & on (Probably already did! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ) Can't wait 'till the Boston FlyerTalk shindig! Marvella... the airlines and hotels should know that you NEVER mess with a Queen or someone named KITTY MEOW! (We cats can get very very nasty if provoked!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
And now for something OMNI... Name: YAZ Mainecoon (Blanchard) Gender: MaineCOON Cat Interests: comforting my owner when he's stressed out, staring in mirror, being combed for an hour, jumping in suitcases, pulling out my owner's computer and phone connection cords. Name: Sir Edwin Landseer (Blanchard) Gender: Domestic Shorthair (although I was a stray so I don't even know) INterests: eating, chasing YAZ, Sleeping near heaters, nipping people's fingers, comforting my owner when he's stressed out. It's Friday! Pardon me for my silliness. Any complaints please refer them via e-mail to Yaz and Eddie's owner. CATMAN |
Wow. We should have a Bethesda FT meeting with all the Maryland people (and former) on this board!
|
Axey beats me as the youngest on this forum (I'm 21) - I've been AC Elite for a couple of years. But since membership is open to those below 18 - I don't think I was even the youngest Elite - they must be some 12 year old somehwere who's parents take him/her everywhere and racked enough to be Elite.
|
yup -- my sister's been UA Premier since she was 13, I think, and my parents moved to Hong Kong. Boy does she get carded in the first-class lines!
(off-topic) axey -- you beat me (agewise) by a month or two.. I'm in the same business you are, I think -- colocs in PHX and LAX as well.. maybe we'll run into each other at Sky Harbor some day. |
Perhaps I may be a bit bored on a Saturday, but has anyone noticed that this thread is the longest one on "the buzz" as far back as I can see. This post should be the 87th reply to baobab's original query about who we all are.
Obviously, we've found something we like to talk about more than FF miles - ourselves. I think we should have a prize for the 100th post in this thread, and one for baobab for the idea. |
Haven't posted here yet but since I'm now in most wanted photo gallery, here goes. My interests are those listed in my profile (love the outdoors and nature). I was born in London UK to Finnish and British parents and moved to Canada at age 6 (other choice was Rhodesia). Married at 19 in 1970, our 29th anniversary this year. One 17 year old daughter who is into music (as a performer) and horses.
Started my own environmental consulting business in 1978 and have travelled to all continents except Antarctica and South America. I do a lot of work with conservation organizations and I am doing a volunteer project in Cameroon in Africa in addition to those at home. My mom convinced me to start collecting miles (I always said I don't fly enough!). Now I am Air Canada Super Elite and have redeemed over 1.5 million miles (about $US 40,000 worth of travel) since 1992. The travel bug is serious in our family. My mom is the most adventurous and she regularly goes on "difficult"/off the beaten path trips (e.g. Yemen, Uzbekistan) as well as more popular places. She is now visiting the Middle East where my brother lives and they just got back from a trip to the Maldives. PS. the nickname goes back to university days when my best friend gave it to me. He said "what else are you gonna call a blonde haired guy who drives too fast". [This message has been edited by BlondeBomber (edited 01-30-99).] |
Maybe the 100th poster can get a "This is your life" type of evening where someone
looks back on his/her life. That would keep in theme with Baobab's theme, Baobab should get somethign special too (Rudi, we have to have a meeting when you go the time!!) Interesting life BlondeBomber... and a great handle/nickname. In fact, I think we all have interesting and diverse lives beyond our work and our travel (although I'm just SINGLE WITH CATS!!) And that's ok. CATMAN |
