12 Countries in 12 Months - 2003 Challenge
Good Morning Everyone,
I wanted to invite everyone to participate in a challenge that I have formulated with one of my friends for 2003. My friend and I are challenging ourselves to visit 12 Countries in 12 Months in 2003.
Here are the rules:
1. Must be actual countries; recognized territories such as Puerto Rico do not count
2. Must actually leave the airport in order for a country to count.
3. The United States and Canada can count as countries even if you live in them. However you must make an "out of state or out of town" trip someplace in your own country in order for it to count.
That is it for rules, however feel free to respond to this thread to clarify.
We are working on Luggage Tags for everyone participating; please respond to this thread if you are interested in tags:

My personal list looks like, US, Canada, Costa Rica, Netherlands, Panama, UK, Dominican Republic right now, sure to grow.
I think that about covers it. Who's on board? Where are you going?
Chris
Edited to update links to Luggage Tag instructions.

being based in the heart of Europe (Switzerland), I probably have an unfair advantage (but I regret that Frstentum Lichtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican, San Marino don't have a public airport ...).
Does departing from BSL (Basel/Mlhouse), an airport in France, with direct road access to/from Switzerland on one side (without having to go through costums there if you don't take an entirely inner-french segment) and from Mlhouse/France on the other side, count as France and/or Switzerland?

Sounds like fun, and quite achievable for any FTer worth his or her salt. Count me in. [Maybe European-based FTers should have a 5 country handicap to equalize the playing field. And Australian and New Zealanders automatically start with 5 credits!
]
Thanks to SAS's Santa, I shall be off on a fast start -- for a North American-based FTer -- and should land in Denmark, Poland and Spain by March. Also have a trip to South Africa via a day in London, so that's five. Add that my home travel here in Canada, and a trip to the USA -- both business and SK gateway -- gets me over the half wa mark. [Can we count Quebec as a separate country?] After March, who knows where the fates and business will take me...

I'm in. I'll be off to a fast start in January with Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore; then Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and England in February.
Hey - about special recognition for the first person across the finish line? (And no, I don't think it will be me.) Let's see who achieves this special FT status first!!

I'm in. Should hit at least Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Phillipines, Korea, Australia, Italy, U.K., France, Greece, and Turkey, and possibly a few I'm forgetting.
Alternates may include Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, UAE...

I'm game to play.
I realized I only did eight this year so I'll have my work cut out for me!
