Shhh. It hasn't been announced officially, but over here you'll find Randy confirmation of time, date and venue.

How about beautiful Santa Monica? Great weather, the beach is across the street, and I have a close personal relationship with a great hotel there where you could get such a deal. ( http://www.fairmont.com/FA/en/CDA/Home/Hotels/AboutHote l/CDHotelHomePage/0,2993,property%25255Fseq%253D100119,00.html.) Plus LAX is so easy to fly into (sometimes). Not to mention that there are a great bunch of FlyerTalkers in the LA area.

Well the Freddie Awards website says

The 16th Annual Freddie Awards presentation ceremony will be held in April 2004 in New York City.
Oh, and voting will run Jan 15 - Mar 15. Can it really be almost time to vote for the Freddies again???

Brrrr!!!!!!!!!!

But nice to see it back in someplace you can actually fly to http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Dates. Dates. Dates.

How can the new York crew plan a DO without a date. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

FYI. Passover is April 10 weekend.

If tradition holds, I'm guessing it will be towards the end of April, on a Thursday.

Glad it's coming back to the Big Apple (which makes it very likely I'll be there.) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well if it's on a Thurs - no Sat stay-over - means really high airfare for NYC. Wonder if our various preferred airlines would give us a great deal if we agree to vote for them as best airline http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

although, depending on when it's in April, might be a moot point for me.

Does anyone have more info on the date for this year's awards?

gleff Jan 7, 2004 8:41 am

Don't have any more info, but for folks considering going... last year was loads of fun.

A good group flew out to COS and Randy, Janet, & Co we great hosts at the House of Miles before the end. Much conviviality, mingling with folks from various programs.

The reception and dinner were top notch. We even got to watch Randy propose! And then there was a reception after dinner as well, with many Flyertalkers gathering post-reception to continue into the night.

I was quite lame, though! I actually brought my laptop down to the gathering and worked while everyone was hanging out. And then I had to take a call during breakfast and disappeared. (Sorry, folks!)

But it was just a wonderful time.

And a special thank you, 9 months later, to Wyndham for their door prizes.

Wyndham gave away
(1) A Herman Miller office chair, won by a Flyertalk lurker http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
(2) A 4-night stay at a Wyndham resort, won by me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif I'll be enjoying their El Conquistador Resort & Spa in SJU in a couple weeks. And Wyndham was just a joy to work with in setting up the reservations (if you can imagine a Wyndham VP on the phone with me describing the different room types that I might choose from http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )...

Thanks again, Randy, and hope to pop into New York in April!

Please could someone enlighten me as to what the Freddies are? FT equivalent of the Oscars perhaps?

ralfkrippner Jan 7, 2004 10:05 am

Quite so, I would say:

www.freddieawards.com

And yes, an official date announcement would be nice as I definitely plan to come over to this years awards and an early booking would be good for end of april I guess...!

Randy Petersen Jan 7, 2004 2:10 pm

Right now we are working with a Thursday evening, April 29 date at the new Embassy Suites Hotel near the WTC site. Not confirmed but that is what we have penciled in with all parties trying to make it work. Definitely back in New York City.

Website has a prepaid rate of $303. I'm certainly not going to prepay... So I decided to hold an award night... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Seems like good insurance at least.
