Daydream, YGM. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

BTW, this is shaping up to be a great trip for me. I don't really have anyone to share the Xmas season with so I'm soooo looking forward to this trip. I managed to snag an F award on LH PDX-FRA-MUC, and the return is already looking oversold. <vbg> Looking forward to the caviar service, sleeper bed, etc., not to mention the prospect of good food, a great city and meeting/re-meeting FT friends.

Munich is fast becoming one of my most favorite cities to visit, which is a good thing since this'll be the 4th visit in 5 years ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

It has been my most favorite city for some time now.

There is a saying I heard many years ago. Rough translation, "In most countries people dream they've died and gone to heaven (paradise); Germans dream they've died and gone to Munich."

Works for me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

One of my favorite cities also - 4th time this year.

LH738: Thanks for the links to the markets. They provided some great info and gave me a better idea as to what to expect.

Looks like I'll be extending my visit in Munich, strflyer, so I should be around on the 22nd.

Lucky me: I'm booked (once again) at the Rennaisance Marriott. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

They've got a Christmas Special rate right now of 77 Euros including breakfast.

They also offer a Fussball Fan Package for EUR 53,50 on Fri/Sat/Sun nights. You are staying in a desluxe room (30SQM, 1QUEEN OR 2SINGLES), breakfast, welcome drink and underground day ticket is included!

Great deal! But it doesn't appear to be available via the Web for the weekend before Christmas.

Click on "corporate/promotional code" and put in "PKG" - and these three tiny little letters lead to the "Escape Fussball Fan Package" and will drop your Friday to Monday rate (12/19-12/22) to € 53,50 (tax & service included)! You get the following amenities:
* welcome drink at the lobby bar or brasserie
* Full buffet breakfast
* underground day ticket

Good luck!

Ah! Found it. Thanks for the tip, Patron.

Patron Nov 21, 2003 5:52 pm

Glad you found it.

Maybe you invest part of the money you saved in eating a dozen famous Pork Sausages (=Rostbratwürstel)on my behalf at Gaststätte Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom (I know that there are cheaper locations available at Viktualienmarkt).

is quite good.

Patron, thanks for the link to:

I am so looking forward to my post-Christmas in Munich; these little Nuernberger Bratwursts (cooked over an open fire) are at the top of my sausage list, so I'll be enjoying at least a couple of dozen on 30 & 31 Dec and 3 & 4 Jan at both establishments. Wish I could join the pre-Christmas bash.

Enjoy!

I think I can oblige you on that count. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I know the place well. I think it's Counsellor's and Rudi's favorite place to go for wurst. I love the pilzesuppe (upstairs better than downstairs) and of course the fabulous beir!!!

Was ist stadtwurst?

Yes, it is Rudi’s place!
I only heard about the Nürnberger Stadtwurst, but not about the Münchner Stadtwurst. But anywhy, I would not order one of them.

BTW.: What’s about a get-together in Everett? In the news: That effects frequent flyers

I will probably join together with my girlfriend if we´re not heading to London that weekend...most likely we will stay at the Renaissance. Got a rate of 95 Euro for a 64 sqm suite http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif . The football package was 107 Euros for two...
Don, what about some Dunkelweizen soon?

I'm all for that, but it'll have to be *really* soon, or around Christmas.

Currently, I'm scheduled to be "gone" from 27 November through 14 December, and it looks as though I fly out again the 15th, and when I get back from that (perhaps the same day), I'm off for the weekend in Munich. I'll definitely be back in town over Christmas, though.

If you can't wait that long, how about tomorrow (Sunday) PM? I have to eat *somewhere* anyway, so we could go to the place we were before, or (if you want to try the civapcici), the place across the street may be open on Sundays.

Tim2008 Nov 22, 2003 11:43 am

Great tomorrow is fine with me. When? I´ll be in the area anyway the whole day
