Help! Icelandic Air

I have an opportunity to visit Iceland. Something I have always wanted to do. Two questions,

1. Is there a star alliance partner that goes there?

2. Any carriers other than Icelandic Air offer service from the East coast?

Hope this is in the right forum, if not please direct me to the right one.

1) This is not the correct forum, unless you are looking to meet other FlyerTalkers there. Try something like the Star Alliance forum for discussion of getting to Iceland on a Star carrier or the FT Travel Europe forum for discussion about Iceland in general.

2) The name of Iceland's airline is Icelandair, not "Icelandic Air." Discussions of Icelandair's SagaBonus frequent flyer program can be found in here in FlyerTalk Miles.

3) Here's an existing topic with a little info to get you started:

4) If you're lazy, like many posters, you could just post in TravelBuzz!.

SAS definitely does. I'm pretty sure all SAS flights are operated by Icelandair, however. Not sure if there are any other Star flights to Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF-Keflavik Int'l).

>>2. Any carriers other than Icelandic Air offer service from the East coast?<<

Not that I'm aware of.

Lauda Air is planing a Vienna-Reykjavik service in the near future. Not sure of the timeline.

From the USA, Icelandair is your only non-stop choice.

Thank you TransWorldOne for guiding PineyBob so well. As this is not the correct forum for his question, I'll move it to the Star Alliance Forum on FT Miles for further discussion.
