Ride on a Mardi Gras Float
Well I have been thinking of this for a little while and was wondering what the interest would be among FTer's to have a chance to ride on our own Mardi Gras Float during one of the Parades.
Here are the details. I currently ride with the Krewe of Pegasus during Mardi Gras. This year the parade is on Saturday Feb 22, 2004. The parade takes the traditional Uptown route and makes a pass on Canal Street. The Krewe offers a group float option if you have a group of 30 or more. (Multiple floats are possible) Included in the cost are your throws, costume, mask, and other fun stuff associated with the day
The parade is the weekend before the Mardi Gras weekend, which means two things. The city is less crowded (yet still fun) and flights are a lot easier/cheaper to get.
In order to do this I would need a confirmed head count so i can contact the captain and get the ball rolling. Also in past years the cost of riding runs around $400.00. However, costs may vary depending on the number of riders.
Lassiez le bom temps roule!

FYI ...If the cost is $400 total you would get very few throws. You would need to supplement with atleast another $200 - $300 for throws. I am riding this year with the Krewe of Tucks on the Saturday before Mardi Gras, which is lots of fun because the streets are packed with revelers which really make the parade.
