Is FlyerTalk Fattening??????
OK, serious as a heart attack now, do you weigh more or less than you did when you signed up for FT??????
I truly believe that FlyerTalk is fattening. It is partly the travel (hard ot exercise on a plane), especially when you pay close attention to the game and learn how to fly, always in first class (more drinks, more food), and then there are the Flyer Talk parties along the way--we eat, we drink, we eat, we drink.........we rarely do any intense physical stuff at Flyer Talk parties--ok, sometimes we dance.
It is no wonder we get fat from Flyer Talk.
What has been your experience?

But if the Punkster can slink around in a bikini - I can sure as hell go on the SoBeach Diet and drop a few un-wanted lbs!

Ha! I've been using i-dine to eat my way around the world! Broadening my horizons, you know.
I just posted a picture from our small dinner-do here--I'm the one with the gut on the right...

I am happy to report that I am 5 pounds lighter than when I first hit Flyertalk.
Don't have as much time to eat as I am busy reading posts
. . .
The FT do's put on a bit extra but unless you are going every week you should be able to shed the pounds. I make sure I get out and go walking wherever I am on the road but I admit it is tougher than being at home where you have all your exercise "stuff" (even if it is just runners and old clothes).

I am about 40lbs lighter than when I started posting on FT. All the travelling made me eat all the wrong things, in the wrong places, so I switched my habits and went back to long-distance running. Happily I am now university weight, which was some 15 years ago (maybe more, I don't count anymore).

I've been looking for something to blame these few extra pounds on - FT works for me (beats aging).
I agree flying in F is a problem. It's hard to turn down the food and drink when that's part of the reason for being up there. OTOH, when I order veggie meals it's often very easy to turn down the food.
I can tell you how to lose weight - another FT tip! - fly exclusively CRJs for a while. For a few months there I was eating nothing but a small package of sugar cookies (around 100 calories as I recall) and orange juice. It wasn't a great diet, but it worked.

Nope, not FT but the wrong food and swallowing hormons every day did...
Changed this and I lost weight since spring (the time where around here the DOs started), matter of fact, flying international business even made me eat less, I had 2 good meals that tasted well, no need to snack junk inbetween like I do in Coach all the time.
Daydream (who fits into her old pants again, wahoo - now I just gotta fight the Freshman 15)

I disagree.
I think travel is fattening, especially business travel. Even if you are motivated and have the time to exercise while on the road, it's harder with the varying equipment you find in hotel gyms, than with the stuff at your home gym that you are used to.
It's also easier to eat more when travelling. You dine in restaurants, which often have oversized portions. I often over-order room service, for instance, getting dessert when I may not have room, because it seems easier to over-order than to place a 2nd order later; of course, I end up eating that slice of cheesecake rather than let it go to waste.
And don't forget the alcohol.
Sure, when I'm in F it's partly thanks to FT, and F meals have more calories than Y. But I don't eat Y meals, so the real comparison is and F meal in the sky vs a Y meal when I land. And with the possible exception of AA's sundae flights, the restaurant meal on the ground is worse.
I'd wager most join FT when they start travelling more, so there may be a correlation between FT and pounds, but that doesn't mean causation.
Now I'm off to go dig up that Atkins diet thread from Omni...

Punki, as I've noted elsewhere, I'm thinking that each 10,000 miles earned via Idine equates to about a pound, so I may have to use the extra miles to cash in for an extra, contiguous seat when I fly.
The naked twister was good for keeping the pounds off until some troublemaker posted the pictures and Mrs. Jailer put an end to that.

FT gatherings can certainly be a culprit to weight gain, as evidenced by last nights San Francisco FT gathering where all guests dined on a nine course tasting menu dinner at MASA'S (http://masas.citysearch.com/1.html).
Guests in attendance, TravelKhatt, VPescado, JerryFF, Gail, raffy & Tim, KathyWdrf, willie--wonka, dhammer53,letiole, her hubby and son, Magic111 & Jerrie dined for almost 4 hours in the private cellar of MASA'S and finished off the meal with homemade lollipops.
