A Hi to all from Grasshopper

For those of you who had the pleasure of meeting Grasshopper (Sameer) at one of the events he attended, I thought I would give you an update on where he is and what he is doing. For those of you who don't know who he is, Sameer and my daughter Jenny aka Pony_Girl were dating for several months prior to his deployment.

Sameer is currently deployed in Kuwait. He is a flight surgeon attached to a Marine squadron that flies light attack helicopters. He shipped out in Mid January from San Diego. He is sending Jenny all of his deployment journals and pictures so they can stay in touch with each other as much as possible.

He asked me to say hi to eveyone for him and he is looking forward to attending another Flyer Talk event when he returns home.

Jenny will bring her picture album to the next Flyer Talk event she attends. If you want to send any messages to Sameer, please post it here and Jenny will see it gets forwarded to him.

He's a flight surgeon. It's amazing what we do in 'real life'.
Send him our best.

Nice seeing you all last week.

I'll be sure to tell him you said hello.

Yes, it was nice to get together last week. Dinner was really fun. Great choice in restaurants!

I've never met either Pony_Girl nor Grasshopper but please pass on that our prayers and thoughts are with him and all our troops as war seems ever closer. Here's hoping he doesn't need to use his surgical skills

As someone who used to get his paycheck from the USMC, I'll second those wishes for a very uneventful deployment.

While I haven't met Grasshopper yet, I hope to one day. We've corresponded via email, and my little brother is in fact in Navy-financed med school similar to Grasshopper.

Please pass on my best wishes to him for a safe time in what is soon to be a not-so-pleasant place.

I look forward to hooking up some time when he gets back.

I received another update from Sameer and thought I would pass on some information in light of the recent news. Sameer is busy at the flightline medical area. There have been a few injuries at his station, but he is doing well.

I would also like to thank all those who replied to this thread. Sameer was happy to hear that his fellow FTers were still thinking of him. Please keep your fingers crossed for him and all the forces in the Persian Gulf and I'll continue to post information as I receive it.

Thanks,

Jenny

Nancy & Jenny -

Please send him my best wishes.

As well, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of us who have family/friends serving in the Middle East.

Tell him hello and that tvl4free said to fly commercial on the way home.

Grasshopper will grasp the significance of this statement!

Best wishes and prayers and positive cat vibes from the "kids" and me from the East Coast.

We didn't get a chance to meet but I hope you get home soon so I can meet you and Ponygirl in Long Beach (the hometown of one of my best FT buds.)

Be well and good luck!!!
