Louise and i can be put down as definites for the Saturday night as the Hawick RFC dinner has been changed to the Friday night.

We will probably head up to Edinburgh about 11.00am but this will depend on the alcohol consumption the previous night!!

Just going to check for accommodation now.

Cheers

Hotel booked!!
For info.
I was wondering what the City Centre 5* was on Priceline UK so i tried £65 + £10 Bonus - Failed so i tried the 4* and the 1st bid of £45 + £10 bonus accepted.

We will now be in residense at the Roxburghe Hotel in Charlotte Sq for Sat night so nice and central for the festivities.

Anyone else staying there?

Cheers

I completely forgot about this FT do!

Looking at my schedule now to see if I can make it.

Anyone seen any good air fares from LHR? Hotel deals nearby?

Thanks,
Richard

Excellent room rate for the Roxburghe, well done. Looks like Priceline is a good bet, Richard.

I've updated the plans for Saturday in the earlier post, with a couple of meeting times and a confirmation of the restaurant.

chrism Apr 28, 2003 6:34 pm

I'll be arriving Friday around noon at EDI, staying Fri and Sat nights at Hilton Grosvenor. I got it for 49 pounds per night including buffet breakfast. This gives me stay #8 on the Diamond fast-track. I'll be coming back on Tuesday for 56.95 for the night including dinner and breakfast. This is stay #9 and I'm sure I can squeeze in a trip to somewhere for that last night. The only problem I foresee is that train strike I keep seeing on the Scotrail website. I'm going to the Highlands for Sun and Mon nights to visit cousins and I've been trying to get an apex ticket for 22 pounds return but I can't book the return on Tues. because of the chance of a strike. I'm going to try to do it with an open return. There is always the bus I guess but I do like the train for a little more comfort.

I'll need some directions for getting to the meeting place. Looking forward to this. I haven't been to Scotland in 30 years!! The plans sound great.

Chris

chrism within the past few minutes the rail strike has been called off, so you're in the clear (at least for now).

Just updated the thread again with more details of dinner on Saturday and Friday.

Belle3388 is coming??? Vixen of COE Belle? Woohoo, |bestest|girlfriend, this is GREAT news!

chrism Apr 30, 2003 7:53 pm

AJ, I'm not sure I like the way that (at least for now) sounds. Do you know something I don't? Am I going to wind up hitching my way back from the Highlands? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Your plans sound great and I'm looking forward to seeing you. Just took a look at the weather forecast for Scotland for the next ten days and threw my umbrella into the suitcase. I know, I know. It doesn't always rain in Scotland, sometimes it snows. My Scottish mother's favorite joke. Maybe it's me. The last time I was there it rained thirteen days out of fourteen. And I was traveling with small children.

See you Friday night.

Chris

belle3388 is indeed coming. She called me last night and I danced a little jig in the office.

chrism, as we say to our visitors in Scotland, if you like the food then you'll love the weather. It rained so much yesterday I thought of bringing a paddle to work but luckily it seems to have eased off a little.

Safe journey to all http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am enroute. I just suffered the most miserable transit at LHR that has ever been my experience to suffer. It took one hour to go thru security screening.

Never mind, I will soon be in EDI! I am posting from the BA Terraces Lounge in Terminal 1.
