We'll need to sort out who's there on which dates. Sounds like some are in just for the weekend; others for the entire show (Jailer, count yourself lucky you don't know what NAB is - it's a grueling trade show - at least for those who have to work it!). Potentially meet up on Sat eve for drink and/or meal, or another eve (Mon) for those that might be there during show. I'm there 4/10th - others post your dates & we'll see if we can figure out a date/time to make this work. Cheers.

Jailer...
NAB is the annual National Association of Broadcasters Convention...
http://www.nab.org/conventions/nab2003/
It displays the latest in broadcast technologies and features seminars and lectures from big media luminaries as Sam Donaldson and Michael Eisner. (according to the website.
It's a good informative convention. Never have gone and probably won't since I have left "the business."
It's one of Vegas' biggest events. So glad that Buffett is NOT playing THAT weekend! getting a hotel would be next to impossible.

I booked 'into' NAB without knowing much about it and was a little worried about grabbing a hotel, so I picked up the Orleans through America West vacations for $35 a night. Of course, I'm not sure what the rates are for the rest of the week, but from the solicitations I've gotten from various casinos, the rates are similar to the rest of the month or very marginally higher. Maybe like everything else, NAB is expected to be a little cooler than usual this year.

NAB is projecting 90,000 attendance. That might go down a bit if some folk don't travel due to the war; the 90K already reflects the economy since last year was 110K attendance. The main hotels usually book full & rates go up accordingly. I'd say those of us who are stuck w/ the longer stays are probably working (and I don't mean in a brothel sense!) the show. Let's figure out early next week where to meet up, time & date. I'm swamped right now w/ pre-show activities. Cheers.

Hi all,
One thing to consider is that the war is (obviously) a huge news item that is all-consuming for everyone working for or with local or national television news.
The news directors and producers at all of the stations are unlikely to attend NAB because of the coincident timing of this. Same with nearly everyone else at any news operation...they are not able to get away for the convention. The likelihood that these decision-makers from the affiliates won't be attending is a major disappoint to me (and many others). :-(
Let me know when/if people are planning to get together. I'll do my best to make it.
