Come Party in the Big Easy 1/31 - 2/2

Come Party in the Big Easy 1/31 - 2/2

FT happenings are popping up all over the place so I decided it would be a good idea to get this on the calendar. Our official hotel will be the W Hotel on Poydras . Thanks to Starwood Lurker we were able to negotiate the rate of $179 a night for this weekend.

A tentative list of weekend events are listed below:

Friday, January 31

Meet at Pat O'Brien's by the fire fountain in the courtyard at 10PM.

Saturday, February 1

Daytime you are free to tour the city on your own. I have plenty of suggestions for those who have not been to New Orleans before.

Dinner at Tujague’s Restaurant in the French Quarter. My reasoning were
the food is good
they can accommodate us in a private room
would do a price fixe menu
can handle separate tabs for alcohol

The menu is 5 courses

Course 1- Appetizer - Shrimp Remoulade

Course 2 - Soup du Jour

Course 3 - House Specialty Beef Brisket with Creole Sauce

Course 4 – Entrée A choice of 4 entrees du Jour (at least one fish, one chicken, a filet mignon)

Course 5 – Dessert Pecan pie

Beverages Coffee or Tea

The total cost with tax and tip is $48 per person (this does NOT include alcohol)

If anyone would like to offer to plan another more casual reasonable priced dinner I am all for it. We can all meet up for drinks and possibly gambling at Harrah’s later.

Sunday, February 2

Brunch at Court of Two Sisters This may or may not happen. I tend to find that getting people to commit to Sunday mornings after partying all night is like herding cats. The last time I ate the jazz brunch it was in the $22 - $25 range not including drinks. If the weather is nice, this is a lovely way to nurse the previous nights hangover while sipping bloody mary’s and mint julep’s

Okay for those keeping count. Here is the latest list of attendees.

Also for those who didn't attend the NOLA do last year here are the pics

hmmm...this would make a nice pre-birthday celebration for me and I have been wanting to get to New Orlean's. Will have to think about it but it sounds very inviting http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

D'oh! Unpacking my Franzia White Zin. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

But other than the lack of box wine, sounds like fun!!! Last year (from what little I recall) was a blast.

If I promise to stay out at the bars past midnight on either or both nights this year, can you put me on the list?

And you know I'm a definite for Delmonicos!

Just keep me away from Harrahs... and hand grenaides... and hurricanes. Basically all things H. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Do not drink things that rhyme with sink.

Hand grenades were my downfall the last time I was in New Orleans. I was told I was drinking the wimp version since I chose the frozen ones.

2 hand grenades + 1 jello shooter + 12ish beers = hurt Kathleen!

I still have my souvenir plastic glass and the cheap plastic grenades they decorated them with. Or...maybe not...my son might have already made a smoking device out of it.

Put me on the yes list for this one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Aww, man! I was just down there earlier this week. And I ate at both of the places you mentioned, and highly recommend them to anyone. I should have dropped you an e-mail to see what your schedule looked like. Next time, I'll remember. You're in Metairie, right?

Hey, Princess, you'd be proud of me. Didn't step on Bourbon Street. There's so much more to do than go there, and after being down to New Orleans four or five times, the whole watching folks puke and drunk girls flash thing is something I'm so over.

Watching drunk girls get up on the bar and dance, though, while spanking your butt...well, that's another story.

um, Tony, the only way they could possibly be spanking YOUR butt, is if you are up there with them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Yep... and just because you didn't call this time is no excuse to say you won't be there in January. You will be there??? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I wasn't. No men allowed up on the bar. But, when one of them yanks you up by your shirt collar, and grabs a little whip from behind the bar, and smacks your butt with it...

For some boys, that would be a fantasy. Me? I'm just not into that much pain.

January is a long way away. I don't see any reason to not go, though. Maybe I can really pull off the work scam thing and go there on Thursday and Friday, see some folks who I didn't get to spend time with this trip, and then stay on Saturday to get the lower fare. Hey, I'm saving the company money, right?
