Actually, no offense to anyone, but I would really just prefer to keep this event "nameless".

I am not of the feeling that everything needs a title to make it fun, and while we've had some classics in the past, I think the hosts should get the discretion on deciding what to call their own events.

How about:

It's ALL techgirl's idea, but as a co-host of this event, I feel it is my duty to notify all potential attendees that there will be a night of karaoke, regardless of what city we end up in.

There. You have all been warned. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Then, considering the recent discussion of what (or what not) to call this thing, will The Peachy One or any others be willing to assist with background vocals on a rewrite of "A Horse With No Name", the 70's vintage song by the group America?

Hey, we still have MONTHS left to jointly improve the lyrics -- which are at:

Sure! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Could I get a few folks to assist with background instruments and vocals on "It's Hip To Be Square"?

And will The Rowdy Girls (and a few other ladies) be the dancers during my rendition of "Simply Irresistable"? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

Okay, here's an early morning stab at verse one. Feel free to improve...

I went to look to see where I was going to burn Hilton points to attend, and saw that there were no Hiltons anywhere near downtown Ft. Worth... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

The Worthington is a very nice hotel, however.

I'm going to put a separate thread up for this, but the hosts will be having a planning meeting next Wednesday night at Esparzas in Grapevine at 7 pm.

Any interested DFW locals who want to help out (and I've noted several of them on the list on the first page) are welcome to join us to hear about what we have solidified so far.

techgirl Nov 5, 2002 5:22 pm

I am currently negotiating a group rate with the Renaissance Worthington but before I commit to something...

How many of the potential attendees will book with the hotel for a revenue stay?

I realize lots of folks are doing Take Two right now and that others like to Priceline hotels. I've pointed out to the hotel that they are likely to have the majority of our guests whether they give us a good rate or not so they might as well get the extra marginal revenue and not let it go to Priceline. The Sales Manager is going to go up a level with the Priceline bidding data I gave her. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

While the Worthington has a good history on Priceline, however, I would issue a STRONG caution that the other hotel in the same category is the Radisson Plaza and that place is a PIT!

Anyhow... could I get a headcount on how many folks would actually do a revenue stay so I can see if I can meet the ten room minimum for a rate?

mashav Nov 5, 2002 6:33 pm

it would depend on the rate, obviously, but I would most likely want a room...

Rats, I don't think I can make it. I'm leaving early Thursday morning and taking a vendor to the boss' deer lease in Ozona.

Since I've never really spent time in DFW (except for the airport) and it seems a lot of people are going down for this I may be a tentative in.. Will definitely let you know

Same here.

Jen,

I will do a revenue stay for at least Saturday night at wherever property you feel is the best place to stay. I might be spending Friday night in Beaumont to visit an old friend. If that doesn't work, then I will also spend Friday night in Ft Worth.

greggwiggins Nov 6, 2002 8:44 am

Jen,

I would also do a revenue stay to be at party central.
