With the "branding change" of the Westin Beechwood, I would say that it is pretty much going to be impossible to get a Starwood stay out of this event.

For those who don't typically drive at FT events, I am again going to urge everyone to stay downtown in Fort Worth, where the "best" option is going to be the Renaissance. I'm going to work on getting a negotiated rate there, but I think using Priceline or free weekends is going to be a good bet.

We will be making certain that all "planned" activities are either walking distance from the Renaissance or that we have transportation prearranged. As a bonus, for folks coming from DFW, it will be easy to take either the train or Airporter bus into the city so cars won't be necessary.

So we don't qualify as a "DO"? Just an "event"?

The PIM (Party in The Metroplex) last year was also called a gathering by me.

I think Catman's trying not to call this edition a DO, because of that movie....you know, with Debbie? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

It's the major reason I stayed away from calling last year's event by that title, and chose PIM.

Of course, we're not really going to be in Dallas for anything, are we?

How about calling it the DFW Do? Then, there's no reference to the movie. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just earning my keep as the consultant for this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

"Jeni DOes Dallas?" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

techgirl Oct 16, 2002 8:57 am

Uh oh... I can see this whole thing going R rated very quickly.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

greggwiggins Oct 16, 2002 9:47 am

but isn't ANY "Do" with Techgirl involved an "Event"? At least in the hazy memories of those in attendance?

(gently edited for typographical reasons)

According to the "unofficial" rules... you definitely have a DO JEN... which if the numbers hold will become A MEGA DO.

If it were in Dallas it would be the DID (Do in DALLAS)

For Fort Worth: the DIFW (Do in Fort Worth)

But it's your Party Jen, call it whatever you want.

And count me in a a BIG, BIG MAYBE (If I'm not doing a mileage run that weekend.)

Now you see why I didn't call the first gathering the "Dallas Do". LOL

How about The North Texas "Big Hair" Do? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Catman, if Freddie Jr. is going to be at this event, I'd like to hopefully take custody of him then. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

do's are so...well..90's.

How about:

1st Annual Dallas Extreme Extravanza
or
1st Annual Dallas Flyertalk Fling

techgirl Oct 16, 2002 4:02 pm

Now now young wingless one...

I can't give you naming rights unless you are at least going to put yourself on the list of possible attendees... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Catman Oct 16, 2002 5:05 pm

Studley, you are welcoem to take possession of Freddie as soon as we find a way to get him to DFW.

Right now he's staying with missydarling in Seattle. He's uspposed to go on the Concorde in November.

But we have time and remember studley since you asked FIRST you get FIRST rights! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

studley Oct 16, 2002 8:09 pm

Cool, Catman! I hope it will happen. If not, then I'll have to just try harder next time. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

How about this for a name:

1st Annual FlyerTalk DFW Fun and Friendship Gathering.

This incorporates both the title wingless thought up, plus techgirl's most important tenet of fun and friendship. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
