Temporary car in Los Angeles?

I have need of a cheap car in LA for the short term til I find a job. I know I can check Ebay, etc, but I'll trust FT'ers before I try the general public. I wonder if any LA area FT'ers have a car lying around that they aren't using. Perhaps I could take over the payments for a while or something?

I've been renting from Avis lately, but the cost is getting to be too much.

If you can't find one to borrow, the cheapest way to do it is probably to buy a cheap car from an individual (check Auto Trader) and then sell it when you no longer need it. Of course, this requires your time, so you'd have to balance that agaist cost.

Best of luck in your job search.

Sorry Stimpy if you were in the Bay Area you could use my Dogillac, I mean my Cadillac, right now it's the dogs evening shuttle. It's a great running 86 with many newer parts. Our spare car just in case.

Have you tried Budget? Ford Ranger pickup or compact cars are ~$129/wk booked online. A monthly rental is discounted slightly further.

How about priceline.com?
