My first post...
I want to do some travel just for the heck of it and my goal is to earn enough UA miles for 2 1st class tix to Europe next summer...this sounds like a great start.
I found $618 including taxes for SFO-SIN-SFO departing 11/8 and returning to SFO on 11/10.
A few questions:
This looks to be about 18K miles...any way to get some more miles? I know to book online at ual.com and to use my 1st USA visa. Any other tricks?
I am a lowly MP base member...are there ways to get an E+ seat? I'm tall and I've tried the sad eyes while checking in...usually doesn't work...any way to get a better seat short of paying for it?
Anyone else going to be there? We seem to have 7 hours to kill in SIN between midnight and 7am...
Last question...can't we boost the miles by adding some stops...like SFO-LAX-HNL-NRT-SIN? How do I find the intermediate stops to add and how to book?
many thanks,
Ron in SF

If you are a masochist, you can book Narita to Guam to SIN! Costs a little more, has ungodly long layovers, but many more miles! I did not do it but one of our own did who arrived in SIN about the time we did.
Question on the triple miles: Class of service makes a difference. What are you having to pay extra to get those miles? We also received the promo.

This was a targeted promo and good on all fare classes.

I'm still pricing the 8th to the 10th....

As I'm all set with top elite status for 2003, I'm now working on 2004. I'm planning to do a EWR-NRT-SIN trip in mid Jan 03. I'll be arriving in SIN around midnight Jan 17 leaving on Jan 20. So if anyone else is looking to get a head start on next years status please let me know

I'm in SIN now and I just learned that Little India is having a festival starting on Nov. 4th. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but this is already a very popular area so it should be lots of fun.

I'm ticketed for the 1st to the 3rd.
Upgrade opportunities on the reasonably priced flights for the 8th to the 10th were slim to none.
I'm going to use this trip for sleep and to catch up on reading... I'll catch up with the drinking/social crew the next time through.

One more for the Weekend with Willie, Dec 7th. Departing Dec 5, arrive midnight Dec 6, have 7th, 8th in SIN, home to SFO Dec 9th. Back on the plane again Dec 11, home Dec 15 - more circuitous route for Prem Ex. Actually Einar is doing the flying. At this point, I am keeping the home fires burning. Hotel up in the air at this point. Where are you staying, Willie?

I might jump in this, for Nov 16-18th. I'm already going to requalify for PLT though without this, and would need to do two SIN trips to make EXP. Decisions, decisions

Okay... I found a receipt.
The restaurant I'm headed to the weekend of 11/1 to 11/3 is Forum Seafood at 42/43/44 Boat Quay. I can't vouch for everything, but the chili crabs and curry prawns that BingoSF and I shared were excellent.
If anyone is running that weekend, you will find me there with a pitcher of Tiger....
