Oh brother. Finally a DO in what will be my backyard, and I'm going to have to cancel on yet another event.

I'm helping someone pack and move next weekend, so I won't be in town anymore. If anyone is getting in before around 5PM Friday, or will be around through Monday, let me know -- I'd still love to meet some folks!

ponygirl Sep 30, 2002 2:01 pm

Unfortunately my family and I won't be able to make it for this event. Hope we can make it to the next one. Be sure to take pictures, I'd love to see all the fun you guys had.

Jennifer

UAPremierExec Sep 30, 2002 6:46 pm

Be sure to see the updated itinerary on page 2 at the bottom.

Don't forget the 1230AM meet @ FONTANA LOUNGE at Bellagio on SATURDAY MORNING FRIDAY NIGHT

(changed from Napoleons @ Paris/Ballys)

Please mark your calendars for this one!

********************************************
Houston, we have a problem.

I have been trying to confirm that the UA and LH reps will be there, and after a phone call to the LA United Sales office, they said that she is no longer with United. I have a bad feeling in my gut she is victim to additional layoffs by United. Just proof that they are making cuts up and down the system. The LH rep will probably not be able to attend, but will try to put together some things and Fed Ex them to me in time for the meeting. Carnival is still coming with goodies!

Sorry for this HUGE disappointment.... this was totally unexpected.

jongar Oct 1, 2002 3:25 pm

Put me down for dinner - i doubt very much ill make the show

bseller Oct 1, 2002 6:28 pm

Bseller and guest are clearly up for either Napoleon's or the bar at the Bellagio....and if Bseller has his way with the tables (?), he will even buy the first round......
OTOH, perhaps everyone should come armed with enough cash to help (!) buy the first round,,,,,since it's unlikely that the BJ tables will offer up sufficient good will!

Best wishes.

Shirl Oct 2, 2002 9:00 am

Well, I'm headed to MCO for the World Congress on Disabilities in a little while, and don't know if I'll have internet access or not.
So, just wanted to say I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas on Saturday!

jongar Oct 2, 2002 10:15 am

oh whatever happens I have to pay BJ at the belagio. Its a hard life being confused with george clooney all the time....

DFWTripGuy Oct 2, 2002 8:59 pm

jan_az Oct 2, 2002 10:59 pm

Sorry to miss you guys http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Have a blast and win some money for me

seanthepilot Oct 3, 2002 7:43 am

See you all in a few hours.... Wa Hoo! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

dmfriedman Oct 3, 2002 9:03 am

For those coming in to town this weekend, just a minor weather warning. Someone forgot to tell mother nature about this thing called Fall, so we jumped from summer straight into winter over the weekend. Over the last couple nights, there has even been snow up in the mountains.

The high yesterday was 58, but the high today is supposed to be in the 70's. That means, come prepared with layers! It could get up into the 90s this weekend, and at night it could get down into the 40s.

Randy Petersen Oct 3, 2002 5:39 pm

yep, see you all on Friday evening.....somewhere. In around 6 pm on America West. then to hotel then to FT spotting.

dmfriedman Oct 4, 2002 2:57 pm

Life is like a bungee cord for me right now... I'm going, I'm not going... I'm going! I'll try to swing by the Bellagio tonight, and hope to make dinner tomorrow night as well.

kenjih Oct 5, 2002 5:26 am

Is there a plan for lunch? Still 1:30? Where are folks meeting up? I sent Nate email, but thought this would be easier.

And now time for a power nap, followed by more power driving and finally flying http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Are you actually down here? Sounds like you flew/are flying in about now... but if you see this, check your OCF mail - my cell number is in there!

I'd like to thank UAPremierExec for organizing this event. I enjoyed meeting old friends and making new ones. Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi was great - loved the Strawberries Briand. I'm glad we were able to have a private room. I was finally able to meet Randy Petersen and I'd also like to thank him for his generosity.

jongar Oct 6, 2002 8:53 pm

Thankyou Nate and Randy.

Sadly we will be in South America when Jongar visits SYD next week. He sounds like a very colourful FlyerTalker. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

i'm scared to post the picures!

btw, 1000 posts.

thanks to those who could attend. I realize that some bad weather prevented about 3 people from coming, and I almost became one of those stuck @ ORD. I'm putting a trip report up, so get some popcorn out...

jongar, about the Carnival Rep, she had a blast. no apologies needed... I have a feeling that she will be coming here more often now!

Randy - was great to finally meet ya!

Rita Rudner gang: I was able to use a line today on my roomie "And that's why I killed him.."

Btw, I did not make the 710AM Frontier flight.. they left 18 people at the gate, and I would have been one of them.. However, I did take the 1250P National flight to MIA home. If I keep this up, UA may loose my business forever! These crews are some of the BEST in the industry....

I wished that I could have come to Vegas. It's that d@mn work thing that gets in the way. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

Where are the pictures?

I met Jongar on Friday night. He was teaching my 11 year old son about women. My son just put his hands over his face and peeked through between his fingers like you do when you go to a scary movie. It was hilarious.

rbernheim Oct 7, 2002 10:58 am

WOW!!!! What a great time with the special group of people who call themselves FlyerTalker's. We had a blast. A special thank's to Nate who orchestrated the weekend. Great to see Randy again and thanks to him for his generousity. We stoped in the outlet center on the way home and found a Nike outlet store there, glad to help the ecomeny out.

If you only knew http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

You guys wouldn't believe some of my shots. They really tell the story of our "unique" evening.

But, pics later, a few notes for now: Nate's thoughtful planning and charm couldn't have been more endearing and appreciated, Randy's generosity was boundless and his companion's sweetness and disposition unriveled, rbernheim and wife are two of my favorite people and so is Shirl (we had too much fun from our cat seats), so with my new favorite seatmates, SFO1K and the hilarious seantheflyer, and the so British, witty jongar when he was 'free' to sit with us, and all the other personalities that attended, it was an evening that I will remember always as something that had to be attended and should not have missed.

Thank you especially Nate (what planning!) and Randy (my dinner was perfect and the AA miles are burning a hole in my luggage http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) - what a night!

which one do you want removed? the one of your bald spot or the one where you stole Saskia's chair?

(btw, I did not post all the pics out of fear of nonstop harassment)... :P I tried to get the ones that actually came out ok ...

mymiles2go Oct 8, 2002 9:30 am

So, what kinda goodies were passed out that I missed out on?

lisamcgu Oct 8, 2002 12:56 pm

Nate - ugh!

That is possibly the worst picture of me I have ever seen. Are my eyes really going in different directions? And, hey, isn't that the one you were supposed to erase?!

Please, please eliminate that picture asap and find my edited pictures (where everyone looks lovely and fun http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif, I hope, I did my best) below:

Lisa, i fixed your pic @ your request... now to figure out what Jongar wants removed :P

Nice pics all together... especially the side shot of my face :P

I wish that Bsellers and company, along with 2 other FlyerTalkers would have been able to make it. Something tells me that weather had a lot to do with it ;(
